Here's the preview from NHL.com: http://www.nhl.com/scores/previews/323_2_preview.html Isles avenged the loses to the Pens/Panthers, do it against the Sabres. I can't believe they beat us twice already. They're an okay team but they aren't that good! We should beat them. I don't want the season series with them to be the reason they make the playoffs at our expense. We're fighting it out with them for a playoff spot. We need this win! |

3-3!!! Damn why does this always happen? Why can't this team seal the deal without making it "interesting" late in the game. That's 7 times they've given a goal in the last 2-3 minutes (not counting empty netters) according to King & Wideman. |

This was a pretty good game until they decided to only send in one forechecker instead of 2. There is no such thing as prevent defense, yet our coach continues to utilize a thinking that has proven repeatedly not to work. Even a monkey learns not to pick up the fruit if he gets shocked. The Isles really missed Bates in OT. Him and Blake in four on four is special. I dont like Kvasha with Blake and Hunter. It used to be speed between B&B with Hunter lagging, now Blake has noone to break with and the line is now slow. It changes the complection of the line to something other than what made it successful. I think Weinhandl would be a better choice or even Asham who has showed very surprising speed. Speaking of Asham, I am more impressed with his overall game each time he plays. He certainly laid some pain on a few Sabres and his movement of the puck really has gotten good, showing alot of poise, a real nose for the puck, the shoulder to get the puck and a relentless forecheck. I vote to move him to the Penthouse and Stirling to the Doghouse. And while DP's numbers are getting better of late, does anyone have an uneasy feeling in his play since he got clocked in the noggin? He just doesnt seem as confident, maybe it's me We got a point, not that that helps when everyone gets a least a point every game it seems. What hurt more is we no longer hold the longest streak of entering the 3rd with a lead and not losing. This stuff gets in the news, into the heads of the players and it's as good as over. Same goes for the 35 consecutive kill on the PK, not like that was going to last forever. On to Friday night. |

This team is starting to make me sick. Playing a team that got in late...after an OVERTIME game that they lost in a SHOOT OUT...and had to be tired. What do we do...come out with a GREAT first period (less that penalty at the end)...and all was well. Get up 3-1...and then..when the SABRES should be tired going into the 3rd after last night's game...and we should be fresh having been off for a few days...we let the Sabres DOMINATE the 3rd? Holding us to ZERO shots on net for the last 12 minutes...and if they DOMINATED the 3rd...I don't know what to say for what they did to us in OT when they had to be even MORE TIRED...but yet our boys watch them skate all over us in our zone...with our heads up our asses. BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD LOSS!!!! No other way to put it. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE explain to me why SS wasn't rolling 4 lines to keep our guys even MORE fresh against a team that played last night???? SS is a moron. ...while I'm at it.... Why is SATAN passing the puck to try to make a beautiful play when he's got 4 feet of OPEN NET BEGGING him to shoot at it??? DUMB!!!! These guys actually put in a decent effort for 2 periods tonight...and to blow it like that in the third...SAD...truly SAD!!! ....on a positive note...Kvasha actually played a good game. NOT GREAT...but a major improvement over what we've seen from the lazy guy lately. I'm done...HAPPY THANKSGIVING FOLKS!!!! |

Oh..and gang...sorry about the negativity in my last post...just a little frustrated right now. It's just disappointing as hell to lose that game when we were in control most of the way. |

oh were all feeling it!! what is pissing me off about our boys is how in the last 5 minutes we always get scored on and what seems like a majority of the time we can't keep a 2 goal lead for more than 2-3 minutes!! when its the last 5 minutes SS should have his best out there... tonight he did not... and were going to loose alot more shootouts if RICO doesnt step up on the throne we place him on...he's not saving the ones we need him too-- and kvasha didnt impress me... even i screamed..."OLGA....get off the ice" i miss bates and the islanders we saw before-- and i remember i said i wouldnt be upset because we did so good on the road...but we werent able to do what the rangers did and that alone has me PO'd!!! |

Are you crazy Sig, that was a perfect assessment of our performance. It's very frustrating to watch the team lose when you know the playing field was tilted in your favor and you dont take advantage. |

WOW..if anyone, I thought you'd throw him a pass here... lol Not saying he impressed me, but I think he played better than we've seen lately. Maybe it's a step in the right direction for him...but who knows...the guy just seems to be lazy. |

Yeah...I can't figure these guys out either Webby. Coming of a GREAT road trip...you figure they'd be all pumped to play back in front of their fans...and I gotta tell you, watching that first period...I was smelling a 6-2 win or something. They really came out with a lot of heart and effort...but it just seemed to die down a little more each period...and there's no excuse for that. I know I've been harping on him for a while...but it has to come down to SS and coaching at that point. True..he's not out there playing...but he's also not putting the guys he needs to on the ice to finish games. He seems to just be putting faith in guys he has no business putting any faith in to see if they'll step up...and they NEVER do....and they NEVER will. He's gotta stop trying to be like Joe Torre and throwing a guy out there because of a gut feeling and all of the sudden jump starting him..we don't have those type of guys on this team...they are what they are...PERIOD. |
