It didn't take 6 years to know that that was one of the worst deals in hockey history, it took 6 nanoseconds. |

thank god he got "promoted". |

How much longer will Jokinen and Luongo be Panthers anyway? |

Didn't Jokinen just sign a new contract? |

But it's ANCIENT history now, they aint ever coming back. The woulda, coulda, shoulda will kill you. Time to look forward and not back. Grebs and Tamby will turn out just fine and who knows what we'll land with that 3rd for Kvasha. Milbury lost that deal and there isnt a thing that can be done about it except look to the new guys and the draft choice we have. |

bexlyspeed- 3rd round draft pick

hey i agree with that , the thing that makes it linger in the memory is that we will probably never have the chance to draft a goalie of Luongo's Caliber again. the rick should be a good goalie, but we have seen him breakdown a few times already. we traded a franchise goalie and they dont come around very often |

At the end of their careers, do you think Roberto Luongo will put up THAT much better numbers then Rick DiPietro? I think they have both shown brilliance, and shown badness (Luongo's rebounds, Rick's out of positioning). When they are both done playin, i'd think their stats will be relatively similiar. Again, how many playoff starts has Roberto Luongo had in his career? |

Yes, I do. Especially when you consider that Luongo will be in all international tournaments and all-star games from here on out. Nothing against the Rick, but we got hosed. I've said this a MILLION times: NO ONE outside of some Islander fans think DiPietro will ever be anywhere near Luongo. You can argue all you want, but the weight of the world is against you. |

There's about 10-15 years worth of hockey to be played before this debate will even be close to being settled. I'm not concerned with what the rest of the hockey world thinks about Rick...this is the same world that always overlooks the depth and quality of the 80-83 dynasty years. Both show promise and have their own strengths and weaknesses. For what it is worth, these next 3 weeks may go a long way in boosting Rick's reputation. His stretch play has been well above average. |

Talent is one thing, the will to win is something completely different and that cant be measured in anything but wins and playoff appearences/victories. |

I think it's more of who else we would have had. We keep Luongo than we draft Heatley or Gaborik. |

C'mon now, this is the same DiPietro that couldnt stop a beachball about a month ago. granted he has played great but he's played great in the past too luongo has been consistent with a pretty bad team, faces 40-60 Shots a night. now do i think DiPietro is going to be a total bust? no . will he be a superstar goalie? no. and the fact that we traded a cant miss prospect for a guy that played 1 year of college hockey and was(and still is) unproven, is a shame. and as said earlier we could have had a heatly or gaborik as well. |

The fact is we didn't need Rick, the fact is we needed a marque player and we could've had Heatley or Gaborik and for a fraction of the price Alexei cost and no disgusting long term contract to hold this franchise back. The fact is we also traded away a top centermen in Jokinen who is better than any faceoff taker since Peca was here. And the embarrassing fact is we have nothing to show for that trade with both the players we got who are about 2,000-3,000 miles away. Milbury is the exact opposite of what Torrey was to this franchise. |
