Jagr planning for retirement
New York Rangers right wing Jaromir Jagr told The New York Times on Wednesday that he plans to retire when his contract expires in two years.

"I'll be 36," he told the newspaper. "I'm going back to Europe."

Jagr, of the Czech Republic, is in the midst of a career renaissance in his 15th NHL season. The Pittsburgh Penguins' top draft choice in 1990, Jagr has 589 goals and 829 assists for 1,418 career points in 1,099 NHL games with the Penguins, Washington Capitals and Rangers.

That's still a couple of years away. I wish his contract ended after this year. Damn I hate that guy.

I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

Me too. Sadly, he is the best player in the league right now. I play on a team and several of the guys are big Red Wing fans. They are unbiased and real hockey die-hards. They rave about Jagr (and rightly so). Hard for an Isles fan to say it but the guy is awesome. Not that I wouldn't wish a case of ebola virus on him, but he is unstoppable.

Not likely he will play "interested" for those two years. If he gets upset and doesn't like NY for some reason, he will instantly transform back into the 7+ million dollar baby .... then there will be TWO of them in NY !!!
Yashin, you ARE the weakest link. Goodbye.

That's a huge loss for the NHL.
Ranger or not, he's amazing.

Hopefully Ovechkin, Malkin, Crosby and others will have stepped up even more.

ovechkin is going to have a great career, he loves the sport and he does EVERYTHING. malkin and crosby are also going to be great players, unfortunatly their team is in our division... i hope they move.
"We're not in a bind at all," Burke said. "I'd say of the 29 teams, we don't talk to Edmonton, so of the 28 other teams, there's plenty of interest in making this predicament go away. I could hang up the phone and solve this."
