i think the nhl may wanna pull off another "Crosby" draft rig, this time making sure the isles find a way to draft Staal Brother #3 .. then the league can have the ultimate publicity for games.. Staal vs Staal -- Isles/Rags Plot line come 2-3 years down the road.. Jordan Staal: Season Team Lge GP G A Pts PIM GP G A Pts PIM 2004-05 Peterborough Petes OHL 66 9 19 28 29 14 5 5 10 16 2005-06 Peterborough Petes OHL 68 28 40 68 69 (before you say big deal after looking at his stats.. look at his bro Eric's Stats in the OHL): Season Team Lge GP G A Pts PIM GP G A Pts PIM 2000-01 Peterborough Petes OHL 63 19 30 49 23 7 2 5 7 4 2001-02 Peterborough Petes OHL 56 23 39 62 40 6 3 6 9 10 2002-03 Peterborough Petes OHL 66 39 59 98 36 7 9 5 14 6 nearly identical.. in their 2nd year.. with his 3rd yet to come.. his first season though may look bad, but he ramped it up in the playoffs... |

They say the best brother is Jarred Staal who is still playing minor midget and isn't eligible for the NHL draft until 2009. In any case, Jordan won't be around at #7 and we don't have much luck drafting younger brothers anyway. |

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/columnist.j...407_103250_5284 heres a story on jordan for this draft... Jordan Staal File Position: Centre Shoots: Left Birthdate: September 10, 1988 Team: Peterborough Petes Scouting Report: Phenomenal combination of size, skill and grit. Plays a very determined game. Skating has improved and is now a strength. Great balance, and can carry defenders on his back. Good stickhandler, and can feather soft passes in tight spots. Competes well in all three zones, responsible in defensive coverages. Nice release on shot, though he admits he needs to work on picking spots better. Bloodlines can't be discounted and has unlimited upside. Could be scary-good in a few years. |

If it was rigged, the Rangers would've gotten Crosby. How much exposure would that kid have right now? They might've changed the street name to Crosbyway instead of Broadway by now. Instead the Rangers got jacked out of what would've been the 6th seed, so I can't really agree with the whole rigged idea. I heard they liken Jordan Staal to a Dale Hawerchuck as far as overall skill. |

if u think hard enough about it.. it was rigged for pitt the entire time.. they had it set ahead of time that pitt was the worst team season before and they wanted to get the kid to take over for lemieux and try to save pitt.. the nhl already rigged the jagr trade, they got their 1 favor.. |

Why would anyone want to save Pitt? Is the league in that much love with Pittsburgh? Is Mario's team that much worth saving they would rig a draft? That seems like a reach, and not that I am insulting you Ziggy, but it just seems like a reach from the way I personally see it. Pittsburgh is a small market team compared to other places Sid could've gone to bring the NHL some recognition after the lockout and recognition a-lot faster with a media circus like they have in LA or New York. I beileve that Gretzky got a ton of play because he went to LA, they pulled out all of the stops to get people involved in the sport while he was in Cali and it worked. I just don't see Pitt as worth rigging a draft for, it just doesn't make sense from a marketing point of veiw. |

Rigged? You know... maybe it was. I know I kept thinking that was the BEST thing for the NHL and for Crosby himself. How can we ever be sure. It may have absolutely been rigged. And who wants to save Pittsburgh? Bettman does. Absolutely. |
