Does anyone know how they actually keep track of individual Time on Ice?? Is there 40 people with 40 stop watches; 20 people with 2 each?? Does anyone know? |

They have like 2 staticians watching the game with advanced computer programs and a video recorder--that works, I think, like a PVR-so they can stop, pause, and replay live" events. TOI is simple: everytime someone leaves or joins the bench, they note the time code. The common screw up is that they have outdated info on who is which number. Since it is all sweater number based, they often call a newly called-up or acquired player the name of some traded or demoted one. |

Speaking of screw up(not relating to this particular situation) they took forever to announce Gonchar's goal. And when Colliton scored they made no mention of it being his first NHL goal, just it was his first goal of the season. As much as I love the Isles, this organization always seems ass backwards and I am sure there are plenty of fans who could do a better job. |

I dont think they are as intricate and precise as you guys are making it out. Theres probbaly just one or 2 guys like you mentioned who roughly keep up with stats like ice time, hits, giveawys etc. I remember once during highschool basketball, after my jv game I lost the straw draw and had to score the varsity game. I was just making up stuff as I went along, no way I could keep track of everything, plus lots of times I would miss a play, talking to friends or looking at the cheerleaders. The stats are most likely nowhere near exact. |

They made no mention of Nilsson's first NHL goal either. Nor Bruno's. Nor Hamilton's. But you might recall Brent Sopel got his "first NHL goal" announced when he finally potted his first for the Isles. Damn shame they don't give the kids that kinda recognition. Colliton's goal now marks the 10th Islander this year to score their first NHL goal. That has to be a record. Campoli Nokelainen Nilsson Godard Colley Tambellini Gervais Colliton Hamilton Collins |

Well, I guess its a boring job for bored fans to check a boring stat. I dont know, Ive just never been concerned with how much ice time people are getting. Its production, really, not time, that matters in my book. A cool stat would be points per time on ice. That would give you a better idea on production. |
