Hartford Whalers, I can't really put my finger on why but I never liked them and those ugly uniforms they used to wear.

The Whalers changed their jerseys so many times, since they were born in the WHA it's ridiculous. I remember them and the Flyers wearing those stupid looking pants for a year(I think the 1985 season) it looked like a practice session out there.

But I did like the Whalers mid-80's jerseys, the all green especially(without pucky the whale on the shoulder). Collectors will pay a nice fee to get their hands on an authentic one, since Hartford hasn't given permission to the NHL to reproduce the Whalers jersey on a vintage line the only way to get one is to hope and wait on Ebay or other sites who have a couple of them.

I went up to the Civic Center I don't know how many times back in the late 80's to see the Isles play the Whalers and one thing is true, that arena sucked. I know ours is not one to gloat about, but atleast it wasn't in the middle of a mall where you could smell the popcorn right outside the arena. Plus, that team had no support, for years they were in the basement as far as support went, the only season they had near capacity for almost every game was their "miracle" year in 1986 when they won the Adams division. Other than that, no one in Hartford gave two craps about the Whalers.

I remember one year, I forget which one it was but the city of Hartford gave them a parade after they won a playoff series. They won one freakin' playoff series and they had a parade.

Since no one mentioned them...how about the NHL short lived Cleveland Barons?
We had a very good team in 78 but that lil bastid Denis Maruk was an Islander killer and I think
Donnie Edwards was their goalie. saved his best against us.
And they were like the doormats back then.

Dennis Maruk?!? The fifty goal scorer whose teams never did anything? Oh yes, I remember Maruk. But didn't this guy change his name to Mike Gartner sometime in the early 80's and keep scoring 30-50 goals a year on teams that went NOWHERE in the playoffs? Time to forgive and move on.

And on that note, I'd like to thank Kjell "the Tripod" Samuelsson for retiring a number of years back and finally leaving us the hell alone. He seemed to play twice as well against the Islanders as the rest of the league (and he was no slouch there either).

Ok....here's mine

1. Obviously The New York Rags! - This team makes my skin crawl, and to think some of my family actually like these bunch of idiots. The one thing that really turns me off about them is their abundance of players from division rivals. This new thing with trading with your rivals is absurd. Back in the day, did the Red Sox and Yankees, Giants and Cowboys trade players to each other, no because they'd be hurting themselves in the long run. And if in the rare case they did trade, they'd try to rip each other off (cough Babe Ruth cough). This whole thing started back when Espo went to NY for Brad Park. Right now the Rags have 8 players (Roszival, Kaspar, Sykora, Orr, Strudwick, Jagr, Straka, and Nylander) who have competed against them with rival teams. We have 3, bouchard, snowy, and york. And plus their fans are obnoxious and most are fairweather fans, only around when times are good.

2. Tampa Bay Lightning - Now Tampa isn't much of a team making my skin crawl, as it is one player. Martin St. Louis. He's one of three players who I really wouldn't mind seeing hit THROUGH the glass (see below) Given, i think he is a talented player but he's just a bit too cocky for my liking.

3. Toronto Maple Leafs - It amazes me how much one playoff series could make me hate a team, their fans, their city, and Darcy Tucker. Tucker needs a good ass-whooping. I dont think many people who disagree with me here, he's the type of player that you hate unless he's on your side. I wish this team the worst but they're #3 because they're pretty much in the same boat as we are as far as the standings go.

4. Pittsburgh Penguins - Ahhh if one playoff series could make me hate a team, one player can do the same. Sid the Kid, the 18 yo NHL vet. No way this kid should have an "A" on his jersey. So what if the Pens think he's the second coming of Christ. He's got great hands and he will be successful if he has the right wingers, but one injury could scar this kid for life.

5. New Jersey Devils - At this time last year, i would have put them 2 or 3, but....any team that can sweep the Rags is alright by me :D

If that is true, that is pathetic.

Why DOES NY tap water taste like chlorine? Is the water THAT dirty that you have to add BLEACH to it?

It's really Long Island water actually, NYC water is better because they get it from upstate. Long Island has its own treatment plants, but the land was hit with so many pesticides and herbicides for so many decades they destroyed the first couple of layers of water. One reason we lead the country in breast cancer, the water is easily the worse in the U.S.

I did a huge term paper on this back in college, visited the water treatment plants and you can't beileve how awful the water is here. Yet, people like my mother pay out the teeth for property taxes, which are the second highest in the country next to Northern New Jersey.

I don't however, think that our water is as dirty as Boston harbor's(eventhough they did a clean-up years ago). But then again, that port has been used for centuries since the Dutch were here.

I dunno FEG, my uncle's place in Midtown has nasty chlorine-y water, so does his place in City Island :dontknow:

And, we don't DRINK the water from Boston Harbor OR the Charles, but I tell ya it is MUCH cleaner than it used to be. You still couldn't get me to swim in either though  Our water comes from the Quabbin Reservoir out west :)

ETA: FEG, you definitely do NOT have a career in PR for LI
