a 5:40 am interview on NBC's Wall Street Journal with Gary Bettman.

As I don't like being in hotels alone (11 year old company, not withstanding), I have a tendancy to sleep with the TV on.... if you can call it sleep.

Imagine my surprise when my subconscience picked up the words "NHL's Commissioner Gary Bettman", and my eyes shot open.

I have to say that he ALWAYS talks about the fans FIRST. He always starts out with "We have the best fans in any sport..."

Talked about OLN and their partnership and the game changes.... Same stuff, but it was good to hear. Don't know how many OTHER people will hear it at 5:40 am... but... at least... it was on.

You said he talked about the OLN partnership. Did he say he's happy with it. Are they going to continue in the future to carry NHL games? I have to say, that after a little adjustment period from ESPN, I have grown to like OLN and their partnership with the NHL. I think the NHL should continue with them. OLN respects the NHL and is their BIG broadcasts and they put hockey first, where ESPN would treat the NHL as filler between the other sports.

And IQ, sorry about the OT loss. It seems neither of these teams can win at home, which is good I guess since game 7 is in WB, PA.

I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

I'm not sure I totally agree with that Webby in regards to OLN. Yes OLN has done better and ESPN did use the NHL as filler but at least they showed every minute of avaiable games. How many times has OLNN signed off when there was still a game going on and worse the other night they sign off with a game going into OT. I'm also not thrilled they haven;t worked harder to partner with an HD channel so that we can see this in HD. During the weekly game each week during the season you could find the game on INHD and that hasn;t happened once int he playoffs. I'm sure OLN is going tohave the NHL at least next season, they are changing there name to versus or something like that, which is scheduled to be announced during NHL coverage. I hope that OLN can grow there coverage and then I'd be happy with them being on a non-major sports network.

aries, it was the first season so hopefully it gets better. And not being an HD owner/watcher I didnt realize they didnt bring you HD Playoff games.

I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

I agree Webb, OLN has improved as the season has gone on.

They devote much more time to hockey, what with the history of hockey series and a couple other programs that were originally on TSN (I think) I watched one on the Tootoo brothers the other day. Never would have seen that on ESPN

Big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond.

I like the first choice and that's where the NHL finds themselves with OLN.

I agree, OLN has gotten better as the season went along. I too saw the one on the Tootoo brothers. I have seen a few other programs that were interesting.
