Rangers defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh, who had been in the NHL's substance-abuse rehab program before he was traded here in March, was arrested for DWI in White Plains on Tuesday.

According to police, Ozolinsh, 33, was stopped for speeding about 11 a.m. in a 40 mph zone on Westchester Avenue in a 2006 Nissan Altima.

Ozolinsh, who was traded to the Rangers from Anaheim, was arrested after a test registered his blood-alcohol level to be .17 percent. The legal limit is .08 percent. He was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, issued summonses for speeding and driving without a seat belt and released without bail. He is scheduled for a court appearance on May 16.

Maybe the Rags should start hanging their traditions from the rafters.

Nice Nick, kick em while they're down.

:fear:

That is funny though and I thought about the tradition with Fleury,
the Big Whistle Bill Chadwick, Don Murdoch and his cocaine, Rod Gilbert,
Leetch falling on ice returning from bar,
Lindros' altercation in a bar...and so on and so on.

Aside from Daneyko, has there been a successful case of NHL assisted rehab????

Maybe the country club is too nice for these guys, like Stevens, Fleury, Ozolinsh

As Islander fans, Ozolinsh should be our favorite player for his gaffs in the series against the Devils. God, he was atrocious. And I loved it.

Theo wants to be a Ranger more then ever with this news coming out. "I knew I would find a drinking buddy. It didn't work out in Chitown because Probert couldn't keep up with me. But Sandis seems to have all the tools nessesary to be a good young alcoholic, I even talked to him on the phone about his some of the problems he is having, like playing quarters and doing shotguns.....things I know I can help him with."

Glen Sather "I don't think Ozo(boozo) has a drinking problem, it's more like he is hopps and barley challenged."

Mark Messier "I drink, but not alcohol."

Mike Richter "I can't remember what a drink is, my head still hurts."

Eric Lindros "I feel like I am drunk all the time."

Rod Gilbert "PARRTTTYYYY down OZO! woooohooo Le resistances de Liver!"

Harry Howell "If I had done what Ozo is doing now, it would've been easier to be a Ranger in the 1950's"

Henrik Lundqvist "When Ozo skates by me during a game, he belches and the fumes make me tipsy."

Darius Kasparaitis "I not know drink, just lower hip..you know, like knee level, take guy out and den hide behind Strudwick. he he"

Eric the bum on the E train "If I had a job, a life and could stop pounding a bottle of Jack a day, I would buy an Ozowid...whatever his name is, because that man is my hero lets go Rangers! ::buuurrpppp::: hey, got any change mother[bleep]er?"
