Why even have this thread. How can you compare a guy who plays the pp, and logs more ice time than Bergy. Bergy has shown so much potential this year, and although MAB has a great shot, that's the only atribute that he can bring to the table. Let's get on the same page here people. Bergy is a keeper, MAB isn't.

Hate to disagree, but where is all this love coming from on Bergie's offensive skills? The kid can fly and he hustles his butt off which I love about him, but in his time on LI, both this year and 2 seasons ago, Bergie has NOT shown an ability to get on the scoresheet and for so many who tout him as a second line player, that is important for him to do.

Now, I'm not looking to deal the kid or give up on him because he is young, but this isn't his first trip to the NHL for an extended period and he's been in our system since the 02 draft. It is time for this kid to start finding the net or helping others do it. Otherwise, we have Richard Park and Andy Hilbert to be energy guys who chime in with an occasional point, forecheck like crazy and are high energy guys. Bergie needs to be more than that.

Still, I'm not panicing. He's going to get time to show what he can do as he should get. Would be nice of other players were allotted the same opportunity from certain fans.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

Don't forget Nolan coaches a Defense-first team, which leads to fewer 3-on-2 opportunities. Plus Bergie's style of play fits in to the on-the-fly rush style of offense. The fact that the guy grinds well and hits everything that moves is just a plus to his game and does it more than usual because he is asked to (which is a good thing). My point is, there's reasons (injury aside) why we have offensive production spread out evenly amongst players, it's because our style of play.

Whats the POINT to this thread???

Lets not forget Bergenheim missed the past 4(???) games or so...plus he is a big reason why Satan and Vasicek are some of the top goal scorers on this team...they werent really scoring with Sillinger or Hilbert on that line...
