I just wanted to add that I think the PP's struggles when Berard was out had less to do with Bergeron than it did Berard not being there. Campoli is not ready to man the PP. When Berard is out of the lineup I think Satan should definitely cover the top man on the PP. The defense has to be worried about being stretched out too far when they over play the bergeron shot. When campoli was in there, I don't think they were worried because campoli didin't have the puck control to manipulate the top two on the PK. Bergeron's shot is great to have, but you need someone with puck control at the top with him.

I agree Camp's not the powerplay captain (indeed, he's pretty good at rushing the puck into the zone and playing down low), but I'd hate to waste Satan at the high slot. He's one of our best from the faceoff circles down. I'd rather see Bergeron or Martinek manning the point. Even Gervais---just keep Satan by the half-boards, behind the net, or in front.

No offense, but if you want to know what the problem with the PP is, it was not MAB, not is it better now that Berard is back, nor is the problem Campoli.

The problem with the Isles PP is a lack of movement.

You'll notice that when the Isles PP was cooking, we came through centerice with speed and whether we dumped it in or carried it in, guys got after lose pucks with urgency. Once we won possession of the puck, the forwards still moved causing the D to have to rotate to take away passing lanes. As the players moved, we moved the puck crisply and quickly.

Since Berard went down and even since his return, the Isles PP does not come through the neutral zone with speed. Additionally, we have not been going hard after dump ins because he have no speed. Forwards were flatfooted on the dump in which means we won't compete for the lose puck. For a PP to be effective several things must happen, but the first and most important is to work like banchees to get those lose pucks. We haven't done that in the last 4 games with the exception of the last 2 PPs tonight.

We need to get after the lose pucks, and once we gain possession, players and the puck must move to create pasing and shooting options...it isn't one player...it is the whole unit.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them
