Tonight's game at the Garden...

I'm confident that it will be a tight game and we play well against the Raggies, but the law of averages say things have to flip back into the Raggies favor eventually and I'm really not expecting a win tonight. The nature of the rivalry is that things usually balance themselves out. HOWEVER, if we do win tonight it will be a monster victory and will do wonders for this team's confidence. Winning in the Garden isn't the issue, it's beating a great home team this season and a goalie who has been dominant on his home ice this year would be so sweet. Plus to go 3-0 against the Rangers.... Well, I know this: if our boys pull this one out tonight Islander Country should be rocking because tonight isn't nearly a must win but its A HUUUGE GAME.

LETS GO ISLANDERS!!!!!

It will be hard-fought - no doubt. But you are right, I think it willbe huge. I want to finish this string of games against division foes @ 5-2, not 4-3. That one game makes a big difference.

Plus, we would finish the road trip @ a respectable 2-2, not a disappointing 1-3.

Let's go and win this one, boys! :isles: Its a big game.

The rags are pretty good at MSG, 8-2-0.

A win would both be huge and a little bit surprising. :bag:

This was a full team effort no doubt, but those 7 guys were unbelievable tonight. It's easy to talk about Comrie, Guerin, Martinek, and Witt, but this was the grittiest, guttiest, most dominant defensive effort I have seen this team play maybe ever. They DOMINATED this game. I am so proud of this team and it's still early in the year and a lot can happen but this team isn't intimdated by ANYBODY and for the first time I truely feel in my heart we are a serious contender to win this division. After that, anything can happen.

BTW, can't forget Bergie either...

Did you see that hit Berard laid out Drury with?

Snowman, you're right - I have never seen them this dominant defensively. They were all over the ice - outworking the Rags to every puck on every inch of the ice.

Hunter owned the boards. Sutton was plain mean out there (excusing the penalty). Tank and Bergie hitting everything in blue. Vasicek has to be the best pickup of the offseason.

That was a GREAT game!

If Comrie actually backchecks against Shanahan and doesn't wind up screening Dipietro on the Rangers' sole goal, Ricky might be rolling with the shutout streak. As it is, a heckuva game all around, Isles.

Tonight's standout had to be Vasicek, who played with grit, heart, and skill.
I hope we sign Vasicek to a contract extension during the year. He should be here for awhile. Even if his offense cools off, he's a big and reasonably tough guy with talent who plays an enthusiastic two-way game. Fun to watch.

Plus, he really works well with Satan. Those two have great chemistry on the ice together.

How bout Radek? He (and Witt) played terrific defense tonight limiting them to only 18 shots...

Dipi has been great, but our defense has been AMAZING.

Right On Time.
I have come to the conclusion that Andy will never score but boy he does get to the puck first often and in a tight game is a guy I want out there forechecking.
