I sent an email to Brooks after reading his latest Islander hatred column. I asked him why he couldn't wait a day or 2 to write another column against the Islanders and, instead, praise the classy decision to bring a hockey legend to coach game #1500. It was a special night and the organization deserved something nice written about them instead of bashing them for "wronging" his Ranger boy Neil Smith.

You can read the article here:

Why is he bringing up that stuff??

He's a joke plain & simple, I'm glad John Torterella told him to go f*&% himself last year.

I had forgot all about that.

timing is everything and leave it to Larry Brooks.
Well he got some attention. Now he can go back to taking turns pulling
earlobes with Al Trauwig.

Finally, we could be wrong, but a Dennis Miller show on Versus doesn't sound like the career's quite on an upturn, does it?

Neither does writing for the Post. What a toolbox.

I just want to know how he manages to type a column with Messyface's schlong in one hand and Sather's in the other.

Must be quite a sight to see...

We are the Loyal Fan Base.
Larry Brooks is a mickey mouse beat writer and Ranger kiss ass..We went to the Sunoco across the street from the Coliseum yesterday and we picked up the Newsday, I look at JBlake55 and say "wow, Islanders news on the back cover of a newspaper, I wished I lived on Long Island." I hate the New York Post's sportswriters...

Now, however, the hard cap has promoted a Lowest Common Denominator League, where teams that sign a handful of high-priced stars are forced to fill in - and as high as on their second-line - with low-wage personnel. In other words, just how many goals will Tampa Bay produce with $7.8M center Brad Richards skating between Jan Hlavac and Jason Ward?

This is actually an interesting point. It makes me think that the Isles approach is truly better. The Isles can roll three lines all with at least two above average offensive players, unlike most other contenders. That's much harder to defend than say Brad Richards, the corpse of what used to be Jan Hlavac (not even that good a player during his lifetime) and Jason Ward.

Isn't it funny that only teams that play in MSG seem to struggle with the use of a salary cap? The Giants don't. The Celtics don't. The Spurs don't. The Devils didn't for a very long time.

Must be something about that building... :letssee:

I loathe Larry Brooks...

but if what he claims about them not paying Smith is true, then he has every right to report it. And shame on them for not paying the guy yet. And in Brooks defense he did write a nice article about Arbour and the Islanders today...

but enough of that, now I'd like to get back to hating Larry Brooks.

Well... I sent him a pointed email anyway.

I really don't care about the dispute with Smith.
Charles Wang is an intelligent business man. If he and his lawyers felt there was a case, then so be it. It's not our fight.

Our fight is trying to keep the NY papers from running this club into the ground. And Brooks seems to be the man at the controls of the back hoe.

Sounds like it's more of a criticism of Bettman for not sorting this out. The Isles can't really do anything until he makes a ruling.

John Tavares does it all...
