This has me so fired up, that when I originally viewed the thread on my phone (passed the house for lunch and the left-over wings from last night popped into my head...) that I made a list of points I wanted to blog about tonight.

;)

Very good posts in this thread.

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE HIGH STICK TO SUTTON WAS INTENTIONAL OR NOT

Sorry, I couldn't hear you.. Can you repeat that? :P
Mark Messier 7/13/2000 after returning to the Rags after 3 seasons in Vancouver:
"I'll guarantee you we'll make the playoffs. I don't think anybody will be disappointed in the next two years."
Next two years: No playoffs, lots of disappointment
You Rags fans only remember the guarantees that come true, dontcha? The guy is 50/50 on significant guarantees.

Yeah is it were intentional it would have been a 5 minute major.

but intent doesn't determine IF it is a penalty. That was my point. Brooks believes because Avery apparently "didn't mean it" that it shouldn't be a penalty.

Intent doesn't determine IF it is a penalty...only the severity of the penalty between double minor and major with a game ejection.

Intent, no intent.

To me it's like teens who have unprotected sex, don't complain when she calls you
because the test came up postive. Live with the consequences dummy.

Who even cares about Larry Brooks? He writes for the New York Post, the biggest piece of tabloid trash on the newspaper stand. That paper would be put ot better use in a bathroom stall.

No good T.P., the damn print on that cheep paper comes off.

Took this from Logan's column today:

Notes & quotes: According to a recent report in the Toronto Globe and Mail, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is close to issuing a ruling in favor of the Islanders in their dispute with former general manager Neil Smith, who was fired on July 18, 2006 after 40 days on the job. Apparently, Smith's three-year contract is considered unenforceable because he never signed it. Smith was unpaid during his brief tenure, and it's unlikely he will be paid beyond the time he served

Let's hope Mr Brooks reports the news.

He'll cry about how Bettman is ruining the NHL and how this is such an unfair decision...and he will remain mum on dolan and how he is ruining the KNicks by turning it into a brothel.

Considering Bettman is a lawyer, I'm certain he ruled with a full understanding of the LAW.

And obviously, as Islander fans, we should be happy that our organization's position prevailed. The law can't protect all the IDIOTS. Although, it usually does. If the schmuck didn't sign his freakin' contract, that's his problem, not the league's.
