I dunno if this has already been covered today or not...

I just got home and checked out newsday's back cover page. Now I wasn't surprised to see the Yanks' resigning of Mo be the big story, but WTF was up with that tiny top left headline : "Islanders squeak by rangers again?!" Gimme an effing break.

How many rags fans are up in the newsday editor's office??

BAH!

Anyway, see ya all on Saturday night!!! Look for Gillies!!

I saw that too. I was shocked as well at how bias that headline comes off. Seriously, we beat them 3 straight. Give us some credit.

I know someone who works at Newsday and he told me a lot of their sports writers are Yankee fans; which until I got on here I assume were mostly Rags fans. That may still be the case. Anyway, I hear you man.
If you see someone down on the ground, you lend them a hand. Unless they're a Rangers fan, then you kick them in the face.

Making headlines for team sports is difficult as there are so many games, and you don't want to pump the same old headlines out there. They did squeak by... by one goal. I don't see the harm. And better to squeak by then be squeaked by on. :ragssuck:

The last fifteen years have not given Newsday too many opportunities to run a headline like this:

ISLANDERS VANQUISH RANGERS AGAIN,
END RANGERS WINNING STREAK

And it would not have killed Long Island's hometown paper to acknowledge the fact that the Isles thoroughly outplayed the Rangers. Instead, they bury the lede.

Yeah, MrsDP.... we haven't discussed that well-timed, well-deserved, well-executed "good" penalty. Next time DP should bring his skate down on the back of that scum-sucker's neck.

It was a wonderful way to send a clear and indisputable message to that steaming pile of ofal and his pasted-together team of cashed-up, coasting carpetbaggers.
