Watching the two Bruins game this weekend was like the tale of two PP's. Our PP has been in a rut the last 2 weeks and I think it hit it's nadir in the first Bruins game with that pathetic 5 on 3. The reason I say that is the Isles PP looked much better on the rematch with the Bruins. While we didn't score on the PP, we had much better shots and moved the puck much better in Sat's game than we had in weeks. One PP resulted in 5 excellent shots that Thomas was good for. We worked the puck low more often on Sat, but we need to do it more than we did on the PP. We moved the puck better but need to do it more. The players moved slightly more on the PP, but are still too stationary. I'd like Gallant to show the guys video of the PP in the first two weeks of the season when things are going well and the last two weeks when it isn't. They will see the 1- lack of puck movement 2- lack of player movement 3- lack of going after the loose puck with urgency We did each of those better on Sat, and I hope we've turned the corner and will only get better. If we don't, then get ready for a ton of 2-1 games. It was only one game, but I'm hoping Sat's game is a sign of things to come. |
I miss these and want more of them ![]()

SHOOT THE PUCK! I thought I saw them shooting more which was good. MAB and Berard both had some pretty good shots. I was pleased with the team I saw saturday n ight. |

Get used to the low scoring..........because we just don't have the firepower to blow out our opponents. |

Which is correct, but it doesn't have to be that way on the powerplay. good puck movement and a good garbage goal guy in the front of the net is really all you need. In fact, I think there needs to be another point added to the list: Bodies in front of net. Too often on the PP we're leaving the goalie unscreened as Berard or MAB shoots from the point. What's the use of that? Of course the shot will be stopped. We need bodies in front of the net. Hunter's pretty good at that, but I haven't seen him doing it lately |

We were successful early on because we kept it simple, put two guys in front of the net and created some havoc. We got too cute for ourselves and became a perimeter team looking for the perfect pass, used the points too much and defenders didnt have to stay low by the net any longer and our point play became too predicable. Shoot the puck in move it to the point, create a crowd in front and try to get the puck there where anything can happen, then have a point man move low to join the chaos. I havent seen Campoli down low nearly as much as the first two weeks. It's not a pretty approach, but we dont want pretty, we want effective. |
