So something I don't get. Bates can go to Bridgeport and play no problem. But Freddy The IV had to clear waivers. Why is that? Is there a loophole having to do with being on injured reserve?

Yeah well I'm pretty sure if you are out on the IR then you accually are placed on the minor league team so you don't have to clear waivers.

Yeah if a player is injured, he can be sent down for conditioning/rehab without having to clear waivers.

Yup. You can only do it after coming off an injury and obviously he can't stay there. Although I'm sure many of us wouldn't mind he stays there.

I have to think we'll see him tonight.

The question is do we go with 7 dmen again and sit Bergenheim or do we sit one of the defense?

I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

I would think Bates returning will cut into the playing time of Bergenheim.....as much as I don't like it.

The 7 d-men dressing I would think would be a thing you see now and then but not on a consistent basis.

I don't think you go with 7 D-Men if Bates is going to dress. Dallas is on a back-to-back...so maybe you give Berard a night off so that you can see if MAB can play D. You know we are going to need to be able to role 4 lines against Ott, to try and stifle their attack.

He's the one that's contributed the least of late and Satan's absence from the score sheet (goals and assists) coincide with Bergie's return to that line.

If it were up to me he'd be the one I'd give a seat in the owners box. Lucky for Bergie it's not up to me.

I'd really like to see Bergie on a line with Comrie. I think he has the speed that Comrie needs. Tank and Guerin seem too slow for him. He's always ahead of the play w/ nothing to do.

But what do I know, I'm not the coach.

If y ou look soley at stats then its not surprising Bergie would sit. But to me, his game involves much more than stats. He hustles his ass off shift and shift out. He stays in the lineup as far as I'm concerned.

Hustle is one thing, what to do once you've beaten a guy to the puck or laid a hit is completely different. The guy has little hockey sense, is terrible in his own zone, and shows no poise with the puck, none. Other than an chip pass can you recall him actually making a play in the offensive zone with the puck?

I'll give you hustle, he's got that, like a tot on steroids, but what has he done with it? :dontknow:

Bergie sits because he can. who else can you bench? Satan? Comrie? Guerin? Park? all of those guys have much more time in the Bergie. Essentially (because of his time off) he's a rookie. Rookies get benched.

Nope.....not the way I'd handle it.

Rookies who sit are better off playing down in the minors and getting ice time. But Bergie doesn't deserve that.

I don't look at stats when determining sitting someone......I look at the long term impact the player has. Bergie consistently hustles so he would stay in the lineup as far as I'm concerned.

Its a tough decision.....right now, I'd sit Bates until someone else stumbles big time. And that hasn't happened.

I disagree, I say you play bates and hopefully he does well enough that someone shows an interest. However you won't be able to trade him unless he plays, if that takes sending bergie back down to the minors, then I could see them going that route, however it'd be a heck of a lot easier to bench MAB, run with the 6 dmen, keep bergie and play bates on the empty 4th line slot.

Show the guy some patience. He is still a young player, and there is a lot of room for improvement. Bergie was a point-per-game player last year in Europe, so I think with time, his hands and hockey sense will improve. Bergie was never projected to be a 50-goal scorer, but with time, he can be an awesome two-way forward.

As the old adage goes, energy, hustle, and enthusiasm can't be taught, as we saw with the Yashins, Kvashas, and Isbisters that have all worn Isles jerseys.

Bergie would have to clear waviers so he's not going to bridge. He's either going to be a healthy scratch if we go with 7 D-Men or MAB/Berard or someone who is nicked up will rest. Most team we are going to need to role 4 lines...not 3 and 2/3rds.

I wont have much more patience for him. He's been up and down for years, and had a season in Sweden. We are not talking about a 19 year old wet behind the ears.

If he doesnt find his stride soon we'll need to __________ . You fill in the blank.
