Not that this is new news but this team needs more of it, just can't keep scoring 2 goals a game and put that much pressure on DP and the defense. I am not sure what can be done, we are getting a ton of shots, but guys like Silly, Hunter Comrie Fedetenko and anyone who plays the 4th line need to start shipping in the off goal or 2. Just venting here i guess, but 2 goals a game just aren't going to cut it.....not that no one here doesn't know that.

11 straight games with 2 goals or less...if that is a trend that continues, we will be below .500 before Christmas.

Park 4th line guy, has one in each of the last 2. The top line and PP needs to get going again.

I agree this has to be adressed DP lets in on an average of 1 or 2 goals per game. He's playing great and we want to be like for the rest of how the season will fold, but guys like Guerin Comrie & Hunter need shake up there funk.

Born during the 1993 Stanley Cup. How heartbreaking is that?
Okay, the thing is that we can't win by just playing hard. Sure it's great to think that, a great way to play the game, but just hard work won't get us too far. Hustling for pucks and leaving everything on the ice are great, but it won't do anything if we can't knock it in. It's actually gotten to the point that I feel a little bad for some of the team. They all give it all out there every night, always making it hard for the other team, but the lack of scoring is just dumbfounding.

Don't get me wrong, I love the team and the style we play, but we NEED a few players who can score CONSISTENTLY. Sure we have Miro, Comrie, Tank, Josef so far this season, but they've all been so goddam streaky. Like really, come on, we can't depend on one of our players playing extremely well shooting-wise for a few days, then dissapearing for a bunch of games, and expect to get far.

Something has to happen with our offense, and quick. Well it's not nessisary for it to happen quick, but preferably, sometime soon would be nice...

I think its time to give Tambellini a call up. Even if its not for the remainder of the season, it seems like every time he comes up he instantly infuses some offense and energy into the team for a couple games. He currently has 19pts. in 18 games down on the Bridge.

Right On Time.
I have to say it is not a direct thing and I know he is gone, but early on people loved Comrie and ripped Blake.

Comrie is no where near the offensive player Blake WAS for us. He is not a top line center, I am sorry. He is a good player and I know he will get it going but he is INVISIBLE some nights.

I mean Park you see on the ice each time (not just two games), Hunter some games, the D- Men, Comrie floattttttts through.

He is a second line center at best.

Mike Sillinger is in a coma this year. He looks his age and is lagging behind most plays. We need the production he gave us last year, not only for himself but for Hunter too.

And Bill Guerin hasnt been the same since the eye injury. What's with this new strategy of him shooting at the goalies shoulder from the corner? His presence in the slot is non-existant.
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

Sillinger definitely hasn't given us what we got last year. He has been a total nonfactor.

Now this is not true. Just the other night I saw Comrie on the ice screening DiPietro on a shot from the point. And I saw Comrie lagging behind the play as a 3-on-2 developed in our defensive zone. So he's hardly invisible (although he might wish for invisibility after some of these games).

You're right, he's not a #1 center, but he was brought here to carry that role. He can do it if he keeps his feet moving, keeps skating, and backchecks to steal pucks and defend the slot. Offensive opportunities will come. But I have a hard time forgiving one of our best skaters for showing not enough hustle on D. He has terrific patience and some slick delaying moves on offense, but patience and delay are not positive traits in the defensive zone.

Well, that depends on whether the insane defense holds up too. It's possible for both to hold up.

BUT YES, we need offense, I'm starting to think it needs to be imported from another team...

At least Comrie passes the puck every now and again. Blake was a selfish as they come and he's only scored twice this season. Comrie has 7 (and more points then blake). So having blake here wouldn't help us now anyway.

Oh and his teammates weren't exactly thrilled with him here either from what I understand. At least no one's complained about comrie yet.

You are right - he hasn't been the same Sillinger we had lat year. But, if memory serves he and Hunter really took off in the 2nd half last year. I am willing to be patient with him in the thinking that he takes awhile to heat up.

As for Guerin, he needs to make more of an imprint on the game. Even if he's not scoring, he's got to put people through walls and not take lazy penalties. Once he gets a hitting/physical game going, the goals will come. If we wanted a perimeter player, we would have kept Yashin here. :bag:

Has anyone seen Fedontenko since the Rags game? :dontknow:

The defense will NOT hold up at this current level over the course of an entire season.

Its imperative for this offense to step up and guys just play to the level they're capable of......no more or no less. We're dead if this offense doesn't step up.

Ive been watching Comrie's play closer lately, and it seems he is playing a little banged up (not a Hilary Duff joke). The guy ices his shoulder after every game and i think its dragging him down a little bit. But, he does backcheck once in a while but i know what people mean when they say he skates back to our own zone too slowly.
