Hilbert has only 1 POINT on the season, but he's +3 in his last 10 games. In none of those games did he finish -. In fact, while Guerin has finished + only 4 times this season, Hilbert has only finished a game in the minus category 5 times this season.

I stopped reading after that. Hilber has 0 points not 1 and on the year he is a minus 3 also. (Little side note the "defensive liability" MAB has the same +/- as the "Defensive Savior" Andy Hilbert. Hmmmmmm)

I told you Hilbert has 1 point.

I heard DP got an assist on Hilbert's goal. That's good. It gives Hilbert a target to chase the rest of the season.

To touch on the point about Guerin, he's only scored in 3 games this year...

Right On Time.
^ Which is actually good.

Our top line after the first 2 games (Most part) has probably been one of the weakest NUMBER 1 lines in the league and we have still been able to win real often, when they get going (They will) then we will pick it up.

It is not as if we are 12-8 and EVERYONE has played over their head, we still can improve which is great. Sometimes you see teams with great starts and they have no where to go but down, not us!

tecknics, no idea why you think you're the only one who has played hockey. I never needed to shoot the puck when playing hockey, it was always my job to block it (goalie).

Hilbert finally scores last night because not only is he possibly not squeezing the stick too hard, he was actually patient on his shot.

What games have you been watching?

Miro hasn't scored in 5 games, but he was + in three of those games and - in only one of them. He's been playing well.

You've used that "what games have you been watching" line before. We've been watching the same games, but just not from your forgiving point of view... that's all. I admire your loyalty, but the only thing Miro is consistent at is his streakiness. For me, it's like watching a totally different player from night to night.

I admire your loyalty and optimism... and your dedication to defending Miro no matter what.... your a good fan. But you can't expect a hopeful outlook regarding a moody and inconsistent player to be the basis of a team intent on making it to the playoffs. It's an "every-night effort" that produces the desired result.

Gimme a break. Miro didn't score in last night's game v. Boston but played a good game. If you think a player ONLY plays well if he ends up on a scoresheet then we simply have different ideas of what good play is.

In fact, Satan's line with Tank and Vas was the Isles best line in that game, but somehow you don't agree.

It isn't a case of "defending him" blindly no matter what. I want him to score more too, but I also want my players who aren't scoring for whatever reason to play hard at both ends and to create chances. He has been doing that. If that isn't enough for you, then by all means please take Ted's spot behind the bench.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

oddly last night i felt Miro played very well without the puck, but thought he had a pretty rough game with the puck.

it's only a matter of time before he heats up again though.

Also, this guy's luck has got to change. I still stick by my prediction of 15-20 goals for Hilbert. I think once he nets one, the floodgates will open. It's like a guy who can't get a date when he's single, but once he gets a girlfriend, every woman notices him... He'll start scoring. :o

For once we are in total agreement, I4C!!!

(I mean, in addition to us both wanting a "Bass-o-matic" for Christmas).

I see 17 Hilbert goals this year.

First of all, I had been hoping and waiting for Ted Nolan since he left Buffalo. No one could EVER take his place. You saw that "earn it" Youtube video? The man is "Big Magic". Great power watches over him and great power is channeled through him. WHATEVER Ted does is a done deal as far as I'm concerned. Period.

I'm not talking about Miro scoring, and you know that very well! You can't measure a player's value to a team by scoring alone. It's those intangibles I'm talking about.... skating the puck in right over the middle of the blue line, stickhandling and battling for posession, and WILLING scoring opportunities to happen... CREATING scoring opportunities... and not depending on being dealt a good hand while your in a fortuitous position in front of the goal. You know... too much thinking and not enough duking it out.

I'm positive that Miro Satan is fully capable of anything he puts his mind to... I saw it a few games back when he was finiisihing his checks and forcing out the puck. I was shocked! It was a newer and better Miro Satan than the one I knew. Well... that kind of effort has cooled off as of late. And in Hockey, there's NOT ENOUGH TIME to cool off. Each game is just as important as the next.

Andy Hilbert, battling his was out of the "schnide" he's been under, has managed to put in a consistent effort EVERY game... even ones that were pretty much lost already, despite every bad break that luck could throw his way. In an postgame interview, I heard Ted say, "poor Andy" while shaking his head and chuckling... but you could see that he valued him and had supreme respect for his motivation.

MOTIVATION is the essential element that is critical in Hockey... more so than any other sport. No motivation, no cup.

Hilbert is not hapless. He blocks shots, dives in front of pucks, is able to push the puck out along the boards in our defensive zones, kills penalities, etc. I realize he doesn't ring the register enough for some. But there is more to come.

If you want to define hapless, Kvasha is your answer. While Kvasha may have scored more and be more talented, his effort was a bit sad. To me, this is hapless.

Shooter.... you are absolutely right... it was a poor choice of words and I did not intend to impune Hilbert, whom I admire greatly, in any way. I'll change it!!!

I recognize his contributions and appreciate them as you do.... and, even more importantly, Ted Nolan does. And Ted knows a good thing when he sees it.

Kvasha? Geez... I can't even go there!

Andy's role on the team is not to score 30+ goals...While it would be nice, if he focused on scoring more I am afraid the defensive aspect of his game would suffer a bit. A good defensive center is very rare and he is tremendous on the penalty kill...He'll find his touch and he'l have 10-15 goals by the end of the season.
