My sister does too. So that makes two. Her screen name used to be Kvashaisgod91. Puckhead, honestly, you annoy me with your negativity. Take some prozac man. |

The Andy Hilbert saga continues. Andy, it was a wide open net. Why???

I saw Hilbert miss tonight and thought of this thread. Hell, I think Sillinger wanted to scream too after he fed him that pass and surely thought we had a goal. |

Nolan had some VERY strong comments about that miss. His strongest comments since he's been coach, IMO. I think his patience is wearing thin with these easy misses especially by Hilbert. The radio annoucers were all over it - something like "how did he miss that"? They couldn't believe it and neither could Sillinger. |

Yeah, Nolan said that he was far from a goal scorer but even he would have buried that. Those were some harsh words by Nolan but deserved. |

In the end, it didn't cost us the game. We lost by two, not one. Though I still can't believe he missed it. Hilbert actually angled the blade to ramp it instead of just keeping the blade perpendicular to the ice. No idea why he tried to ramp it. Then again, Straka hit the post with a wide open net at the other end so it ievened out. I would like to know why Toronto did not look at that last Rangers goal. On the replay on MSG from the goal cam, it clearly goes in off his skate and his stick NEVER touched the puck. And yes, I did see a kicking motion. Again, I'm not putting our loss on that. We didn't sustain enough pressure tonight, but I do find it funny that the goal wasn't even reviewed. |

That could have potentially made it 3-3, and by then it would have been a completely different hockey game. This was even worse than the empty net he missed against Boston. This one, he didn't even have to shoot, in fact he probably didn't even need to move his stick, just put it on the ice and let the damn puck deflect right in off of it. |

Sung to the tune of -- well, you know -- On the twelfth day of Christmas, The Islanders sent to me Twelve shots to bury, Eleven happy goalies, Ten screaming teammates, Nine coaches cursing, Eight bloggers freaking, Seven fans a-yelling, Six heads a-scratching, Five posts that ring, Four bad whiffs, Three shanked shots, Two hands of stone, And a goal for Andy Hilbert! Shake it off, Andy -- we need you, man! |

If you sang that the traditional way, you'd have to say "a goal for Andy Hilbert" twelve times, and we all know that ain't happening. |

Mark Messier 7/13/2000 after returning to the Rags after 3 seasons in Vancouver: "I'll guarantee you we'll make the playoffs. I don't think anybody will be disappointed in the next two years." Next two years: No playoffs, lots of disappointment You Rags fans only remember the guarantees that come true, dontcha? The guy is 50/50 on significant guarantees. | |

it's gone way beyond "bad luck" "snakebit" etc. There have simply been far too many perfect chances blown by this kid. Players at this level FINISH those plays PERIOD!!! Someone needs to figure out what the problem is already....get him new sticks...run him thru shooting/chip-in drills till he collapses, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love every other aspect of his game...but this has gotten way out of hand. |

The whole game would have changed if that went in. I agree about kicking motion with Isles4cups, saw it clearly on the replay. Andy is solid in many areas, he cannot miss shots like that one and expect to play. A possible scratch for Saturday? |

another thread talking about hilbert and *ckups. HILBERT SUCKS, MAB SUCKS, BERARD SUCKS.... I don't remember who said this it, but I agree with the comment...If other players on the effin team, would put forth the same freakin effort that hilbert does, park does, hunter does etc. then we wouldn't be having these problems, or heck, have nothing to talk about. Sorry to anyone if offended....I've been in b*tchy mood for two days and all I want to do right is relax...and I can't relax...Losing sucks. I need to step away from keyboard...and have a drink. |

Just a thought on Andy. I dont think he is horrible .. I just think he gets nervous and cramps up.. which makes him miss his shots. |

Doesn't matter why he misses...only that he does miss. And enough with the "if everyone worked their tail off like Andy does..." BS...I'd work my tail off like Andy and it doesn't mean I am a good hockey player. Hilbert is AT BEST a 4th line player in this league...yet for some reason he plays on our 2nd and 3rd line. Let him go work his tail off in Bridgeport. |

I agree wholeheartedly with Hardlee on the Hilbert thing. I also admire the man and think he's a good player. However, it was just last season that many on this board were talking about the limitless possibilities with Hilbert's offensive game. So where did all that hidden skill and talent go? He's either got it, or he doesn't. Personally, I think its under there somewhere, but at least it's not a lack of effort screwing him up. Same cannot be said for my bestest buddy Miro Satan. Yes he's got to score because it seems like no one else is capable. Again, I'm in agreement with Hardlee. The thing I can't stand about Miro is his maddening streakiness. It's like sometimes he wants to play and he does, and other times he's just floating. Like hardlee said you can't just wait for that perfect sniper shot to finish in front of the net (which Miro's no genius at anyway). I can't remember seeing him battle for pucks last season (I've seen just one game this season:o). And not to offtrack a bit, but Webby mentioned in a post early in this thread about Bergenheim. Now, the only hype I heard and read was right here on NYIC and I bought into it. But I have the same question: WTF is Bergenheim bringing to the table? The stats don't look good for him at all and he was invisible most of the game I went to vs. Boston the saturday after thanksgiving. And seriously, what was with all the hype I read right here on my beloved NYIC? Just cuz we drafted his arse early we think he's a Godsend? Bergenheim isn't impressing me thus far... |
