In the end, it didn't cost us the game.  We lost by two, not one.  Though I still can't believe he missed it.  Hilbert actually angled the blade to ramp it instead of just keeping the blade perpendicular to the ice.  No idea why he tried to ramp it.  Then again, Straka hit the post with a wide open net at the other end so it ievened out.

That could have potentially made it 3-3, and by then it would have been a completely different hockey game. This was even worse than the empty net he missed against Boston. This one, he didn't even have to shoot, in fact he probably didn't even need to move his stick, just put it on the ice and let the damn puck deflect right in off of it.

Yeah, really. You can't assume the game plays out the same way. Gimme a break.

Yes. You can. WE got outplayed the entire game. One missed goal by Hilbert isn't why we lost. You could make the same argument about Straka who also missed a wide open net.

We lost because as a TEAM we didn't play great...not because of Hilbert.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

you know what makes me want to scream?

having to hear "and he shoots it wide" seemingly 50 times every single game.

time to bring out the shooter tutor Ted.
"We're not in a bind at all," Burke said. "I'd say of the 29 teams, we don't talk to Edmonton, so of the 28 other teams, there's plenty of interest in making this predicament go away. I could hang up the phone and solve this."

Then we can agree to disagree since if Hilbert ties that game, then maybe we find our legs and some adrenaline kicks in and we play better, knowing we still have a chance to win and/or get it to OT. That's the way I looked at it.

I just completely don't understand how you miss a completely wide open net like that? Helen Keller could of scored that!
