In practice today, Bates centered a line with Richard Park and Sean Bergenheim.
Ted Nolan said today after practice that Shawn Bates is likely to dress for Wednesday's contest against the Ottawa Senators.

Time to dust off all those Bates graphics in storage. :D
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

Time to start praying.
I was talking to my ticket rep before and he said that Bates got fat. If he is out of shape, then his "speed" is going to suck. Just what we need...another underachiever on the team.

I think i'm going to puke

Edit:

Can we put our bets in now for when he is going to re-injur the groin?

I think December 13th vs. the Yotes.

I actually think Bates can help, though unfortunately i think he should be in, Hilbert out and Tamby up. But i am not holding my breath.

From the press release:

Quote:

Bates will return to the lineup to help the Islanders stop a menacing force in the Ottawa Senators.

I laughed out loud seeing that. The only way Bates will do anything to stop Heatley, Alfreddson and co. will be if he spits his mouthpiece at them.

Actually, your ticket rep is WRONG.

I have seen Bates around the locker room and hallway after the game and he looks like he is in great shape.

Just my two pennies.

The boys need a fire lit - what better way then to mix it up from within.

Have to assume that MAB will be sitting again. Feel bad for the kid cause I thought he played well against Dallas, can't complain about him shooting into defenders skates, as he took the shoot waiting out the diving Dallas player and getting the puck on net that led to the winning goal. I really don't like that 4th line though of Bates Bergy and Park not because I don't think it will be effective, it could be great, but that means Simon is playing with Comrie and Guerin. As great of a coach as Nolan is his friendship and loyalty to Simon is hurting the team. Last year he had Simon on the PP and the first line for about the first quarter of the season now he has him on the first line again, it is not where he belongs. You want to mess with the lines I think he could try this...

Tank-Comrie-Hunter
Park-Vasicek-Satan
Bergy/Bates-Sillinger-Guerin
Simon-Hilbert-/Bergy/Bates *Hilbert can center then line if Bates stays with the 3rd line.

We haven't seen Bates play so this is just assuming, but to more Park needs more ice time and Simon needs less, this is just to reflect that.

I agree on Simon, though I'm not sure it's Nolan's friendship that's the reason why he's playing more, I think Ted honestly thinks it'll work, but IMO Simon is a 4th liner, not a first liner.

You can play a bruiser with a couple of superstars on the first line to clear space but it just doesn't work with Guerin and Comrie.

Even Ted makes mistakes. Ex: placing Sillinger against Modano.

That doesn't mean he thinks it's not best to have him on the top line and is playing him there anyway.

Bates.. hmm interesting.

i give him 6 games.

And also, Garth likes him. I remember last year at Retro Night my brother asked Garth why Simon was on the first line when he came by the Havoc Zone line. He replied with a simple:
"I like him. He's usually my room-mate when we say in hotels"

...or something like that

Yeah, I'm not saying I don't like Simon. He is great on a third or fourth line but he can not be on our first line and expect goals.
