I was all about "In Nolan We Trust" until the Dunham fiasco from the end of last year. He showed his true "I favor experience over skill" colors, and the move now with Hilbert proves (at this point) he didn't learn from that mistake. Don't get me wrong, there's still room for me to get that trust back (Hilbert - 50 in 50??) |

Snowy, I have a feeling that if Jeff Tambellini's name was Jeff Thomas or something else, alot of people wouldn't be so heated about him not making it.

I think a lot of people really want to see a player in "our system" and a young one at that, make it. |

What's our system? Tamby only came over in a trade in March of '06. Do we not have Bergy, Gervis, Campoli, Martínek, Dubie and DP from our system??? |

I think you are off base on this one. This is all based on what most of us have seen with our own eyes. Although, if his name was Jeff Gilles... |

Then I'm off base, I can live with that opinion and I also stand behind mine. I hope everyone doesn't take this as a "knock" on Tambellini, that is not the basis of my debate. I want him here, but from what I've seen with my eyes from him, he is where he should be for now. |

If people were expecting Tamby to come up here right away and score 30 goals then they would have been sorely disappointed. That being said, he has shown enough at this level in speed and skill to get an extended look. He is ready because he hustles and what little I've seen of the guy......he deserves to be here and not Bridgeport. There's really nothing else he can accomplish down there. But I bet we seem very very soon. |

AHL Callup

Teddy Nolans , love of veterans, and his loyalty to them is bordering on ludicrous, Tamby is an NHL future star. Bank on it, I hope its with the Islanders. Embarrassing move for this franchise! |

Remember last season when we all flew off the deep end cause Campoli didn't make the roster??? This sort of feels the same...Tamby could be on the roster in 2-3 weeks and then what is everybody going to bitch about? Oh we can go discuss attendence or Sparky....

Jerry, never wiser words have been spoken. Well ok maybe some philosipher. I know ALOT about hockey, I know ALOT about the NY Islanders, but to think I or anyone else here knows what's better for our team than our NHL coach is absurd. I'm ready for Friday, and I'll be rooting for Hilbert. And if the day comes that Tambellini is in the lineup then I'll be rooting for him too. But to say our Coach is insane, or stupid, or cant see the obvious? We dont know the economics, the little things, the 2 WAY CONTRACT.Who knows if Tambellini will make that line more successful? Steve, you make a great point about the last name. Why didnt Walter make the team and why isnt there a hubbub about him. They guy put up 67 points last year and was Boston's AHL leading scorer, and not a peep from anyone about him not making the team. |

I don't think there's a single thing wrong with what he said. He wasn't being a jerk or disrespectful. Aside from a handful of people, scout around and you'll see that the consensus of Islander fans feel that Tambellini should be on this team. |

TP, I think we all agree that he should be on the team, where we disgaree is whether or not he earned the spot from the start of the season. That's where the debate begins. I have NO doubt that as soon as a callup is necessary, he'll be up and make it difficult for them to send him back. |

After all is said & done....knowing Tambs is one of the only guys with a two-way deal, and knowing for weeks now we would cross this bridge it's hardly a surprise. Is it fair to be disappointed? Absolutely !!! I, for one, was pretty excited when I stumbled on Tambs being listed as a breakout/sleeper fantasy pick on NHL, TSN, and ESPN's sites a few weeks ago. But in the grand and vast list of dissappointments encountered in my career as an Islander fan...this is hardly worth losing a pinky over Tambs is gonna be the first call up...and Hillbert will prolly do as good if not better... BRING ON FRIDAY !!!!!!! THE WAIT IS ALMOST OVER !!!!!!! |

Honestly Steve, I don't think that's the case at all. I wasn't even born when Steve Tambellini was here, I think he won the Cup with us in 1980, and I was born in '82. Plus, history tells us that relatives of hockey stars are usually not quite stars themselves; just look at the great Brett Lindros, Mark Howe, I think even Gretzky had a brother that played. Jeff Tambellini is carving his own way in the sport, coming up here last year for 20 or so games and hustling and hitting, and leading Bridgeport in scoring despite playing almost 1/4 less games. The fans have gotten to know him and know what he can do, and up until yesterday, all signs pointed to him getting a spot on this team. |

No problem... So, how's it been bearing Andy Hilbert's love child? How far along are you? |

I think that Jeff Tambellini has the nicest teeth I have ever seen on a hockey player. But this doesn't help his scoring/skating/shooting/passing/making the team. I trust that Ted Nolan made the right decision. As much as I like Jeffy and his teeth, I think Nolan knows best. Go Islanders!
