You guys need to stop whining about what is being talked about here. It's a valid point. Walter or Tambellini SHOULD have Hilberts spot. Especially after what we've seen. You can even see it in the guys reaction to his missed goals. Sillinger looked like he wanted to kill Andy but just utterly couldnt believe he missed a lay-up goal like that. Inexcusable after this many misses. Enough is enough. i could beat this dead horse all day long because what's right is right. Everyone can have their opinion but we may as well give Tambellini Hilberts ice time to develope at the NHL level. We've been playing well but were not exactly a guarantee to hit the playoffs either. Why not develop our young talent? Now is the time. If Tambellini is indeed part of our future, he should be up here soon. If not, then I expect to see a trade. |

Okay hydrophonix. So you are saying that when Tambellini was up here, he busted his ass every shift, worked great on the penalty kill, and threw his body in front of 98mph slapshots to block the shots??? I dont know WHAT Tambellini you were watching. Tambellini isn't superman. Tambellini isn't going to come up from bridgeport score 50 goals, win league MVP and bring the islanders to the cup. If you think so, pass what you are smoking because I would like to try it. How many times can the SAME thing be said in a different way?? And I will complain about whatever I want because in all honestly none of us are Ted Nolan. Ted is going to do what Ted WANTS to do. Why? Because HE was hired as head coach. Not you, not me, not anyone here on this board. Sure its fun to say "why not use these line combinations, bring up this player or that player" But honestly...Tambellini is being blown WAY out of proportion here. And I like the guy. I just don't think he's the damn Messiah. So again, please lets stop :deadhorse:. |

Right now, Hilbert and Tambellini are both 1 dimensional. The difference is that Hilbert is consistent with his at the NHL level.

Hilbert is not one dimensional, he cannot hit the net. He fits better in the current system than Tambellini, doing the little things well. If Tambellini can walk across Long Island Sound, they should put him on the first line. If not, I am with MrsDP-let the coach be the coach. For all the complaining about his not letting young talent play, we have a coach who is a winner. Should have been coach of the year last year, making a strong bid this year so far. |

FIRST OF ALL, I BROUGHT AN OLD THREAD UP AND I AM SAYING THIS B/C DID YOU SEE WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING WITH HILBERT AND HIS GOAL SCORING HANDS. IF THIS IS LIKE BEATING A DEAD HORSE SO IS TALKING ABOUT DILBERT. NO ONE IS PRAISING TAMBS /WALTER AS THE NEXT MESSIAH NOT EVEN CLOSE.. NO ONE IS SAYING HE OR WALTER IS GOING TO SCORE 50 GOALS BUT MAYBE THEY MIGHT CREATE SOME OFFENSE, PUT AN EXTRA GOAL IN THE NET, MAYBE SCORE ON THE OPEN NET. WE WANT MORE OFFENSE AND THAT IS WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WE ARE SAYING BRING ONE OF THEM UP AND GIVE THEM SOME MORE TIME AND MAYBE PUT ONE OF THEM ON THE 2ND LINE FOR SOME SHIFTS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. BY THE WAY TAMBS WAS NOT UP LONG THIS YEAR SO YOU CAN NOT SAY WHAT HE CAN OR CAN NOT DO. HE DID NOT DO WELL BUT WAS NOT HERE LONG ENOUGH TO SAY HE SHOULD NOT BE BROUGHT BACK UP MAYBE THEY PUT SOME POINTS UP . WE ONLY HAVE SCORED 2 GOALS IN ALL OF THESE GAMES. WE NEED SOMETHING TO JUMP THE OFFENSE SO LETS TRY IT. I AM NOT SAYING TO GET RID OF HILBERT B/C HE HAS POSITIVE SKILLS BUT SIT HIM A GAME OR TWO OR SIMON A GAME OR TWO. WE SIT MAB FOR GETTING BEAT..YOU SIT HILBERT FOR BLOWING SCORING CHANCES. WE NEED GOALS AND APPARENTLY WE ARE NOT GETTING THEM. SO WE EITHER TRADE FOR SOMEONE....BRING UP SOMEONE FROM THE BRIDGE...OR FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET OUR TEAM GOING I APOLOGIZE FOR THE CAPS I HAVE TYPED THIS HALFWAY THROUGH AND I AM IN NO WAY YELLING OR BOTHERED. NOLAN KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING AND HE KNOWS WE CAN NOT PLAY THESE GAMES ALL YEAR LONG. AFTER HIS POST GAME INTERVIEW HOPEFULLY SOME ONE COMES UP AND PLAYS ON SOME SHIFTS ON THE 2ND LINE HILBERT IS GREAT ON THE PK AND IS ALWAYS IN THE RIGHT POSITION BUT THIS THE NHL. YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO SCORE NOT PLAY ONE PART OF THE GAME . |

Okay... how about this: Of the two on-ice dimensions (or assets) that we concentrate on: offense and defense; Hilbert's stats in compliment to his play show that his strongest demonstrated assest at the NHL level with the Islanders has been his defense, for which he has displayed consistentcy. His offense is presently located in an alternate reality, which we hope joins our dimension soon. Fair?

Seriously though, it IS beating a dead horse. How many goals did Tambellini have when he was up here? I barely noticed him on the ice. Thats not a good thing. I also agree that talking about Hilbert is beating a dead horse as well. |

Also there is no need for a new thread to be created everytime Hilbert doesn't score a goal. So I thank you MJ16 for taking the time to search the threads and put it in an old one. Because there are like 8 or so threads dedicated to basically the same thing: Hilbert Sucks Hilbert Rules Bring up Tambellini Dont bring up Tambellini Marc Andre Bergeron Sucks Marc Andre Bergeron Rules Same thing over and over and over can drive people a LITTLE bit crazy Which is why I have tried not to mention Jon Sim as much lately.

I AGREE WITH ALL OF THOSE THINGS. Also, I think they are waiting for Okposo to give Tambellini his shot again.

It's not that simple...I never said Tambellini was superman. But, he is better than Hilbert... He's been doing a good job on the PK, but most likely because he knows he better be good for something or his ass would be outta here already. We have OTHER guys that are also willing to take one for the team. Just because tambellini is up, doesnt mean he should be on the power play. This horse will NEEEEVER EVERRRR be beat until i see hilbert out of the lineup. I would be just as happy with Walter up on a scoring line.. the guy moves and ice opens up. |

First injury to a forward and this thread is a moot point. Tamby will eventually get his shot... ...and I think he'll do well. Look at Zach Parise in the swamp. From a River Rat to a Devil in about a week, and a good one. And he had a legacy last name to carry as well. Just goes to show you don't always need to follow the prescribed route of maturing in the minors. And even if there is no injury to a forward (which is a best case scenario), if we continue to score 2 or less a game I think he'll replace one of the non-performing forwards sooner rather than later. I'm biased, 'cause I like his game and think he is well suited speed wise to play at this level. I just think he needs playing time with the big boys. Tamby rules! |

I forgot one other point. Hilbert is a favorite of Nolan. When he finally scored Nolan was jumping around behind the bench like a school kid. He praises his game and the "intangibles" he brings every time he's asked. So, I don't think Hilbert will go and Tamby will come. I think Bergy... |
