That's his problem; if he went to Boston Market or KFC for lunch instead, maybe he could have learned to put the biscuit in the basket!

I had to quote this once again...

But I am really not going for Tambs but someone from the Bridge that may jump start our team Walter/Comeau.

This was a fun one to bring up and it will come up again and so will the dead horse .

Tamby is putting up the best numbers, with 19 points in 18 games, at the Bridge. Let the kid come up and let him actually play and not bench him for stupid reasons.

AT THE BRIDGE

Are they playing the same style of hockey down there? Different coach, different teammates, different LEAGUE.

Will he put up same numbers here? Last time he didn't. (Last YEAR I mean).

Nolan has set up Bridgeport to play a similar game...it was a main concern for him over the summer.

the minors are different come on. yeah nolan wanted the same system. when the guys do come up, they won't be confused.

and in my opinion, he's not that good. I would rather have walter on the team. In fact, tamby won't ever make the team.

Tamby is coming back up - check out Greg's latest article, per Nolan.

http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey/islan...0,2127358.story

Quote:

Nolan gave all but a few Isles Friday off from skating after playing three games in four nights against top teams. But he admitted that he's considering the possibility of recalling forward Jeff Tambellini from Bridgeport, although it won't be for Saturday night's game against Atlanta at Nassau Coliseum.

"Tambellini has good speed," Nolan said. "He's scored at the AHL level. Hopefully, if we give him enough time, he can score at this level. "

If and when Tambellini comes up, it doesn't necessarily mean Hilbert's role on the third line with Sillinger and Trent Hunter will change. Nolan described his remark about Hilbert's scoring woes as "tender love," and he made it clear he appreciates Hilbert's hustle and his work on the defensive end.

Great to see. The key in Nolan's quote is "given enough time." Don't expect him to score a hat trick on his first three shifts, but once he gets a few games under his belt, he will begin putting pucks in. The kid deserves a legitimate shot on one of the top lines, and I think he's ready to contribute. Scratch Bates or Bergy or whoever, and give the kid a shot.

I read that as having absolutely no confidence in him and he's a long shot at best. That word "Hopefully" speaks volume in that lack of confidence.

At this point, Hilbert has buried any hope/confidence I may have had that he could become more than a 4th liner.

All because of that one play?

I know, because it's not the first time.

But Hunter, Guerin, Satan, Vasicek had good scoring chances and failed
to score as well against the Rangers.

Yes, let's "get rid" of Hilbert folks.

Bring up tambellini, he's the saviour. he's the answer.
heck anyone is.

right?

I am glad at the season we are having thus far - don't get me wrong. Can you imagine what our record would be if we had a scorer? Losses like the Flyer games, the Boston game last week and even the Capital game earlier in the year could be converted into 2 points.

I am just concerned because our defense can't keep this ridiculous pace and we have now struggled for offense for over 1/2 the season (2 goals or less in 14 of 24 games).

While Tambellini may not be a savior (who knows?), a change clearly needs to be made. Its a change that's worth a try. Can we score any less? Pls don't answer that.

And that change is clearly NOT any Hilbert. Bergenheim is doing a heck of alot less with more "talent". If everyone played with Hilbert's effort every night, we wouldn't need to worry about scoring.

Hilbert is arguably our best defensive forward. Better than Hunter, Silly and Park. Sitting him is a mistake, but if Nolan is trying to get a message to him fine. I trust Nolan. I don't trust some of the "get rid of Hilbert" yahoos.

Research at the NYIC Sports Bureau shows that in the last 5 games Bill Guerin has missed the net 4 times more than Hilbert.

Yes...and I'm sure he's doing it against goalies like Brodeur, Lundqvist, Emery and defensemen like Witt, Campbell and Rafalski at that level.

The difference is that...

Hunter 4g 6a 10p

Guerin 5g 6a 11p

Satan 7g 8 a 15p

Vasicek 9g 3a 12p

and there is
hilbert 1g 1a 2p

And if you say he's for the pk and D,
you can say the same thing about park

Park 3g 5a 8p

a grand whopping total of 6 points difference between Park and Hilbert...

great point. You really showed the "Hilbert apologists".

Bergie has a grand total of 5 points and he's been on second line all season. Yet you are critical of Hilbert?

No sense in calling Tambellini up if he's only going to get 6 minutes of ice time a game.

And you know that's just what will happen if he comes up here.

I don't think so. After a scoring slump like this i wouldnt be surprised to see Tambellini or Walter get some time with comrie or guerin to get them going. I have a feeling he's going to come out on fire (energy wise, not necessarily scoring right away). ;)
