ISLANDERS INSIDER: TAMBELLINI RECALLED
Could see action against Boston at Monday's Kids Free Night on a line with Satan and Comrie

Jeff Tambellini was recalled from Bridgeport (AHL) this morning and joined the Islanders in time for their practice this afternoon at Islanders Iceworks. Last night the wing had a goal, an assist and the decisive goal in the shootout in the Sound Tigers' 4-3 win over Lowell.

"We need to shake things up to get our offense going," said Islanders head coach Ted Nolan. "Jeff's speed and skill should be a big help to us."

The 23-year old Tambellini practiced today on a line with center Mike Comrie and right wing Miroslav Satan.

"Miro and Mike are two-world class players," Tambellini said after practice. "This is an opportunity I need to take advantage of to prove I belong in the NHL on a regular basis."

In 20 games with Bridgeport this season, the 5-11, 190-pound Tambellini has seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points.

The Islanders host the Boston Bruins on Monday night at 7:05 pm at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Kids 16 and under can receive free tickets to the game starting at 5:00 pm at the Coliseum box office. This special event - which also includes a Toys for Tots collection by the United States Marines - is made possible by Rexcorp Islanders Inspire, an initiative of the New York Islanders Children's Foundation.

We'll see Monday night if Nolan goes back to utilizing four forward lines. Here were the combinations at today's practice:

Fedotenko - Vasicek - Guerin
Bergenheim - Sillinger - Hunter
Tambellini - Comrie - Satan
Simon - Park - Hilbert

pretty interesting line combinations.. hopefully this will wake up the offense a bit.

i'm pretty excited to see them finally try out Bergie on Sillingers left wing.
"We're not in a bind at all," Burke said. "I'd say of the 29 teams, we don't talk to Edmonton, so of the 28 other teams, there's plenty of interest in making this predicament go away. I could hang up the phone and solve this."

This will only work if Tambellini is given a legitimate opportunity and not given three shifts and then the remaining time on the bench.

I think even if he struggles a bit its important to give him ice time. He certainly has the offensive tools to help the team.

I think that gives us an extremely fast line. Granted, there isn't much size there but at least they can zoom around and be open for each other. Comrie and Satan are not afraid to grind it out in the corners and Satan has been strong on the puck down low.

I give this 2 thumbs up!

Well, folks, this makes everyone happy. Tamby hopefully gets a legitimate shot on a scoring line, Hilbert can continue to play his solid defense/PK and add his hustle and not have Mike Sillinger strangle him for missing open nets, and last but not least, Bates is back on the sidelines. (Yes, I know that makes LedZep and some of the lady fans on the site somewhat unhappy, but what can you do.)

Born during the 1993 Stanley Cup. How heartbreaking is that?
The only thing I'm a little upset about is that they took Miro out of the Vasicek-Fedotenko line....
I thought they looked great, but what can you do? Hopefully Tamby will some how make an unbelievable effect on offensive production.
Tambellini = :cup:

Good move, I guess based on what we have. But how many chances is Tambellini gonna get before he starts scoring, or getting shipped.

The problem isn't Tambellini. The problem began during the first week of free agency.

Thank GOD! FINALLY!

I couldn't agree more. Its also giving a chance for Bergie on the Sillinger line - they looked good out there on Saturday - seemingly the only line that showed something.

If Bergie and Tambellini don't show anything by the trade deadline, they will be trade bait. Its their time now - put up or shut up.

This will only work if Tambelini is willing to go into corners and dig for pucks and backcheck. He's on a line with Comrie and Satan. If he isn't in the corners getting pucks, he won't get chances. Personally, I saw no reason to split up Joe Vas and Satan. They have been our best and most consistent forwards over the past 2-3 weeks. I probably would have kep Vas and Satan together and put Comrie with Tambelini and Tank

Satan- Joe Vas- Bergie
Tambelini- Comrie- Tank
Guerin- Sillinger- Hunter
Hilbert- Park- Simon

I'd try that, but one thing is obvious..... If Tambelini is playing and a now "healthy" Bates is sitting, that speaks VOLUMES about what Nolan thinks of Sean Bates.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

If they show nothing, you think we'll get anything for them? What team would want to make a trade involving them if that happens?
