Good point, they've shown they can play better. And Sybo, you are definitely King of the Avatars. You roll out great ones left and right. Those are some monstrous farts.

it should be noted that I decided to change my avatar during the game last night out of sheer superstition...I thought the change may shake up the teams mojo (silly I know). Well within about 2 minutes of the change...they scored goal #3

I think you're on to something......while you're at it, any idea what happens after we die ?
:dontknow:

yes...ur severed digits grow back, and you are greeted in heaven by 100 virgins holding scope bottles :)

This is the same team that started out so great earlier in the year.

Snowy, don't take this personal.
Sometimes when I post, I go off as a result of MANY posts I've read from fellow Isles
fans on various sites who share the same view that I disagree with.
My earlier post was not as much a direct response to you as it was a knee jerk reaction
to alot of "timely" negativity and "sky is falling" sentiment from many fellow Isles fans.

I cannot judge this team as being a middle of the road team now because they haven't played
half a season yet.
I expected them to compete and they have showed that.
Injury to Jon Sim? He was supposed to be a key part of this team. gets injured in game 2 yet we still
move forward.
What happens next?
Teams scout us, we are in a funk scoring wise yet are still in it.

WE KNEW that we needed another scorer etc...
but we also knew that the current ownership, GM and coach want to establish an identity
with leadership, grit and hard work and move from there. We cannot attract BIG free agents unless
it's desirable to come here. We know all this.

But am I the only anal fissure around here that appreciates what we have?
Bad enough we have some people who call themselves fans constantly picking apart
the same players over and over again as whipping boys and never once write anything in praise of guys who do play well.

It's a long season and alot can happen. I always say that, I have said that since I watched
guys like Andre St. Laurent scrap the corners for this team and I'll say it now with this group.

Steve I know you're speaking to everyone as a whole, I understand it's not personal. I just feel since I started the thread I should respond.

I have been saying this since before training camp, this is not a result of this goal drought or losing streak. In fact I said it during the first week of the season when we were white hot.

Team needs two 30 goal scorers.

Steve,

My biggest problem right now is that there isn't really anything to get excited about. Our team does compete hard most games, but they still aren't that exciting to watch. Our only exciting player is our goalie. Our prospect pool is very thin giving us very little to look forward to as well. Our only respected prospect is having his worst year ever. There aren't any top level free agents that I think we can sign here in the offseason as well. The only thing we can hope for is that this team overachieves and sneaks into the playoffs, which in my opinion is a bummer.

Perfectly put. Without DP this would be the 2000-2001 NYI.
