Knowing we're having struggles right now on offense.... wouldn't you give a call to forsberg or selanne per say. I mean they are over their 30's but they have proven they can score. I dont know just a thought....

I wanted Selanne in an Isles uniform years ago. But truthfully I don't see either of those guys suiting up for us unless we threw Steinbrenner-esque money at them. Even then, prob not -- Smyth walked to take less money. We need to make Long Island attractive to big name players again. I say we start with winning some more games... :yea:

Yeah this problem goes beyond attracting a washed up big player or two.

To win......we need....

#1......a top to bottom revamping of our entire scouting system. We need more resources and emphasis on drafting and amateur player evaluation. To win consistently and have a chance to do damage in the playoffs....we need to find occasional good players through the draft. And quite simply, other than DP, we've gotten nothing out of the draft. That has to change. No more parttime scouts in Europe either. That was a joke.

Snow needs to be given a few years to accomplish this......it won't happen over night.

#2......More stability on the roster. While one year deals are good for certain players and provide motivation........other players need to be here a while to give the team an identity. We can't turn one third of the roster over year after year and expect to have consistent results. Two of the three players on our first line are signed only for this year and the other is signed only for two years. I doubt other first line players on other teams have similar contracts.
