For DP he has what...12 or 13 more years on his contract So I guess he will remain forever young (like the movie) For another 12 or 13 years

He made the all star team this year. Every team has to have one player Who else were the Islanders going to send........Bates So it was his turn to make the All Star team but does that really mean he's an All Star One year Mariusz Czerkawski made the All Star team cause there was no one else |

Led....Bates was too busy playing for the ALL-DL/INJURED RESERVE TEAM...I wish we still had Chris Osgood, at least if we dumped Snow back then, kept Ozzy, Dipietro would have a successful mentor to shadow and learn from...though DP did blow off Billy Smith I believe....and wouldve had to fight to become a starter. |

So who do you propose we get? And who's saying him being young is an excuse for his mistakes? We're all human; you don't make any mistakes? |

"The Franchise" consistently gives up these kind of goals no matter the Defense in front of him over the years "Remember DP's still young. And what kind of D has he had in front of him? Anything like Billy Smith had?" I think you did Jim |

No. It doesn't. When are people going to stop with the most ridiculous posts I've ever read. What goal tonight was DP's fault? Whitney's first goal? no. Not even close. His backhand? Explain to me how a point man gets to come down from the point UNTOUCHED. Park skated right past him and tried to play the puck instead of the man...was a matadore and missed both. Hilbert took NO ONE on the play. so Whitney skates across the high slot untouched and parks a screened backhand. The last goal? When shots are LOW, goalies take away the LOW ICE. Letang's shot was low until it hit Witt's stick and then changed elevation by 3 feet in less than half a second and found a 6" hole...the only place it could have gone in to score. No one stops that shot with that elevation change in such a short reaction time. Here is a better question you should be asking about the last goal...why when DP cleared the puck from behind the net to his defensemen in the corner, did the defensemen fail to move the puck up ice? Instead, he blindly threw the puck around the end boards behind the goal to no Islander player in particular and Letang picked up the loose puck. If you are pinning that goal on DP rather than asking WTF that defensemen was doing blindly turning over the puck deep in our zone in a tied game in the final 4 minutes, then you don't know WTF you are talking about when it comes to hockey. (and no Zep- I'm not aiming that comment at any single person inparticular so please don't take offense. It isn't meant to single any ONE PERSON out) |

You know what else would... a defense that includes Lidstrom, Chellios and Rafalski. Ozzy is a nice goalie and a nicer guy, but lets get real. He's been run out of more lockerrooms than Alan Eagelson including Detroit's twice already. Isn't he on his third stint there now? These posts have gone beyond ridiculous and are now bordering on

^ I'm not pinning on goals on DP. But everytime there is a goal you kill the D and not even saying you are wrong, but to think it is going to perfect all the time is nuts. I mean there are breakaways, 2 on 1, guys in the slot, guys floating around I mean come on. He wasn't hung out to dry all night. On some shots? Sure. I mean like the Staal goal of course if that went in that would suck and not be on him but this whole thing of explaining a turnover or this guy or Park playing puck, or this guy doing this. It is going to happen and happen A LOT more than once a game. I have to agree with you that a lot of time people say DP fault and very rarely it is just his fault, but to say he has been sharp or solid lately would be false and that is fair. I think that last goal was stinky. Would I "PIN" it on him or call it "soft" ? No, but is it a shot that could be stopped? Yes. |

NO!!!! I KILL THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE. Last I checked Park and Hilbert are not defensemen. I killed them on Whitney's backhand goal because they both f$$%Ed up on the PK. How does Whitney pick up that loose puck in the high slot and Park skates right by him without laying so much as a glove on him? He didn't even get contact with Whitney's stick? And Hilbert was running around completely out of position for 20 seconds on that PK allowing Whitney to cruise right down the slot to pot that backhander. Don't give me this... "you always kill the D". When do I blame Witt and Martinek for goals?? Oh wait. I don't. Why? Because they play good defense typically. I'm tired of watching the same Dmen making the same mistakes OVER AND OVER again and then when Rick fails to bail them out for the 7th straight time, it is the same idiotic post from someone... "well, elite goalies save that" or "he needs to make those amazing saves" like he didn't make those saves already 7-13 times a freaking night. I tell you what.... put Ozgood in net for us. Make the offer to Detroit...Ozzy for DP straight up. See how quick they jump. And then see Ozzy's GAA finish above 3.5 for the season. Tinman...Explain to me how a goalie is going to stop a puck from getting behind him that elevates 3' off a deflection in less than .3 seconds. I'm not blaming Witt. It was a fluke goal. It happens just like we got a fluke off their goalie's turnover. If you think a ton of goalies are making that save, you simply don't know what you are talking about. Rick wasn't out of position and there was less than a 6" opening for that puck to go. |

Right On Time.

^ I'm not killing Rick at all. Also when I said D, I meant D on the play. He does make big saves, but everytime there is a goal ALMOST always there will be a player or two responsible for it other than the goalie. We have 3 weak D-Man and are in our zone a lot, that is my point. If we do it on every goal we will be killing lots of players. Players float, players lose their man or the puck, guys get open, especially on the PP. Overall we have done a pretty good job. There were games earlier in the season we hung him out to dry and he was STELLAR, we haven't been that tight D even when we were winning some games or getting in to OT. That Devil game, that road trip it was all him. Our D was scrambling around letting up 40 shots playing worse than they did now. That was just a stinky goal, he could have hugged the post I thought. I didn't say it was easy, didn't say he should of had it. BUT I bet if you asked him he would say I "could of" or even say "should of" (Competitor) had it. I respect that a lot about him. I didn't say it was easy... Conklin had the same thing happen without a deflection, but I have seen him make some huge saves off of deflections. Sometimes deflections are major. This puck was coming up and it took three slow mo replays to even see if it was tipped, I didn't think it changed direction that bad and it sucked he had a little hole by the post. The thing you are dead right is, we aren't that solid on D (as a whole). It goes to the whole thing where a lot of people don't think we are "that" far away. I do. I mean for a CUP. To match-up with the Wings or Ducks or beat Ottawa than New Jersey than Montreal.... I mean that is a LONGG ways away. |

The shot by Letang was low, yet it entered the goal in the upper corner. That is a change of 3 feet. Please let me know the goalie who will stop a shot originally headed for the ankles that is suddenly 3 feet higher. I truly wonder how many people have actually played the game sometimes. |

perhaps I was too busy screaming bloody murder to actually ask: Why exactly did the refs blow that whistle? The puck was traveling unobstructed...and they blew the whistle as it was sliding into the net.... do I have that right? or am was my vision obscured by hope? Good effort tonight, entertaining to watch for a change. Hunter's line was on a mission !!! The kid's looked just okay...but their speed was most welcome...they will get better. Rick needed to be better...but that last one was a freak deflection no doubt. What can ya say...the game was a heartbreaker...but at least it was entertaining. OOPS BIG EDIT: I forgot to give Comrie credit for his game last night... what can I say? He skated, took (hard) shots, was a gritty bastard, he looked like a leader out there...good stuff. Keep it coming Mike, I beg you to make me eat a big ole plate of crow. GOOD JOB !!!

THANK YOU!!!! I thought I was alone in yelling expletives at my screen reading so much of what IMO is nonsense. Witt was FLAT footed again and tried to block shots instead of moving his feet and trying to block the shot. That 4th goal deflected off his stick. Tough break for us but as usual, it's a GREAT opportunity for some to once again play the "DP ain't done nothing yet" card. The team around him needs to MOVE their feet. They did it earlier in the year (regardless of lack of speed) when they played with more confidence. Anyway, tough game to lose. Still hope though. Not that far sunk yet. |
