Wrong. That isn't the rule. The rulebook says "altercation", not fight. A 5 min. major nor a 2 minute roughing needs to be called for a player to be involved in an altercation. Comeau was clearly INVOLVED in an altercation. He got suckerpunched. Berard was the thrid man into an altercation between Exelby and Comeau. The fact that Comeau didn't throw a punch and didn't even get a penalty is irrelivant. So yes, Berard can be called for third man in, despite the fact as you put it, it was a "one man fight". You may not like it, but that is the rule. No instigator call needs to be made either. There has never been a connection between the instigator call and a 3rd man in call. third man in calls have been made since the beginning of the nhl. The instigator rule is relatively new. |

I agree with you on everything, but I'd be surprised if he gets one game. |

Exactly. We won playing the type of game we needed to. I'll tell you who is really impressing me... Aaron Johnson on our blueline. No frills, nothing fancy...just getting the job done. He's consistenly better in his own end than MAB, Berard and FM4 since coming off the DL. |

Poti--- It honestly depends upon Snow and Nolan. Ted has always been a guy who didn't want to send tapes to the league on matters like that. He had that tag in Buffalo because he was old school and believed certain things teams need to fight through and in a way he's right. There was the hit on Yashin last year by Matt Bradley of the Crapitals that was a clear knee on knee and I thought we should have sent tape of it to the league. You can't let guys do that to your "star". However, Nolan said after the game they wouldn't send tape... and the league does more with suspensions when teams complain and less when a team sends no tape and says nothing. I look at it as a matter of protecting your players. I know Nolan is old school, but the Isles aren't really in a postion to have enforcers go "even scores". We need to win games and while I admire Teddy's "old schoolness", I think this is one the league should be made to take a look at. It was a spear, and then a cheap shot to the throat....on a kid with potential. If Colin-blow says nothing, then that is more fuel for the conspiracy theorist. |

I hope they do complain, need to protect our players. I just hope that comeau doesn't get intimitated but plays like that. He has been playing outstanding since he came up....Dare, I say this out loud...if Simon was here.... |

that line would have no points. It wouldn't get on the ice because we'd be killing Simon's major penalties. |

Born during the 1993 Stanley Cup. How heartbreaking is that?
|
This Exelby guy (or girl, can't tell due to unnecesary hair length) should definitly be suspended. Cheap shot in the back with the puck out of the area, shot to the crotch, two cheap shots...sounds to me like it deserves about 2 games... But back to the game... Good game overall, PP looks like it might be coming into it's own again... A couple of BS calls against us (Satan's holding), but we stayed out of the box for the most part...well compared to the Thrashers at least... Applause to Berard. Way to stick up for Comaeu. Totally worth it Good hustle and fore/back checking... Though DP had little challenge against him, I think we should give him one game off. It seems like he's a bit tired both physically and mentally. Give Dubie the crease, let DP get back to 100%. Looks like just when some people on this board lost hope for the playoffs (myself included), the Islanders manage to pull two great games out of their @$$. Keep it up boys, keep it up.

Here's to hoping we pound on the Crapitals on Wed. I'll be in attendance and I don't want to hear it from the 5 Crapitals fans that will be in attendance. I was able to buy 4 seats in the 12th row yesterday. This is a team in a playoff race and the most exciting player in the league and their city doesn't even know they exist. Sad...so I don't want to hear crap from the 5 Crapitals fans who show up and know nothing about hockey (good hockey anyway because they never see it) Kick their AZZZ Isles!!!! |

Right On Time.

Obviously one of the best games all-season. Atlanta is now 2-9-1 in second nights of back to backs and I'm glad we jumped on them. We will get the Sharks on a back to back Monday as well and Nabakov may sit. A few things that have stuck out in the last week or so... 1) Bergie is starting to excel, standing out, strong on the puck, speed, NO stupid penalties. 2) I LOVE Comeau but people were begging for him first line and people on the board were calling him the next "Jason Spezza". He is solid but has not been the same. 3) Almost the same exact words except put in Park. 4) DP's stickhandling has not been as sharp, hope he really focuses on that for the upcoming week, with some teams that can really score. 5) Hilbert has been VERY quiet. 6) Put back in Sillinger, Gervais and Witt.... take out Franz, Berard and ??? We should be pretty strong in March! |

Johnson skates just fine. In fact, he skates better than Meyer, Berard, and Sutton and is a better defenseman than those three and MAB. For some reason it took a rash of injuries for Saint Ted to allow him a chance to show how good he is. No, he isn't an all star defenseman. But he takes the body, has a clue how to play the point on the PP, and has some hockey IQ. It was amazing it took a bunch of injuries for Nolan to get a clue about his game. |

Hilbert quiet? I guess it depends on how you define quiet. Come and join me down near the boards where I watch home games and watch him bang away in the corners, create space for his other two linemates with his digging along the boards. He hasn't been quiet at all. In fact, he was terrific tonight. |

Concerning Johnson...I'm not surprised that Ted wasn't sold at the beginning of the season. Johnson was not expected to make the team as a starter and didn't really shine in camp. In fact, this stretch is the best I've seen him look...nothing flashy, just responsible and dependable in his own end. It has been a short stretch so who knows if it will last, but he's more reliable than the 4 you mentioned in our own end. Also, he was basically sent packing for nothing from his previous team. I really look forward to watching this kid develop. He already is better in his end I think based off this small sample of games than everyone not named Witt and Martinek...yes, he's been more impressive in this stretch than Gervais and Campoli were too. Not saying his is a top 4 dman potentially, but he's showing he has an upside to be a dave langevin type player. |

I disagree with you about Campoli. He has definitely been missed by this team. Especially with what he can do on the PP and when he jumps into the play 5 on 5. Johnson has been a pleasant surprise though. Great stretch lately. Don't care for him to be on the wing though. Bergeron has been making a case for himself lately too. As long as he doesnt see top 4 minutes, he's a great help to us with his shot from the point. Still think he's going to be traded though. |

Shawn Bates' only Fan!
|
Great game! I've found a new favorite, Sean freakin' Bergenheim I love the guy! So, I visit a Thrashers board, and they are calling Comeau a "gutless puke" for his "headshot" on the Exelby. Saying it's Comeau second dirty hit this season ( Higgins hit, which while dangerous wasn't dirty IMO) one guy is saying that Comeau has been a dirty player since his junior days and WJC. Can anyone here confirm that? |

Don't worry about it. The Trashers are a joke of an organization and their fans are GA rednecks who have no idea about hockey to begin with. The Trashers have a history of this nonsense. They had line brawls last year with the Crapitals, Sabres, Canes and Lightning because whenever they get blown out, they resort to this nonsense in the final minutes of the game. In a way, it is funny because that was the most active Exelby had been on any shift in that game. Trashers fans claiming anyone is dirty is just a joke. You've seen Comeau now for 3 months or so. Have you seen him spear anyone? Have you seen him sucker punch someone in the throat? Next time they cry to you about Comeau, show them this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMufp0wkCno Even the Habs announcers say Higgins put himself in a bad situation by turning into the hit at the last minute. Exelby is a busher and a cheap hack of a player. Plain and simple. Don't put too much credance into what the Deliverance Fan Club says. Who knew they knew how to get on the internet. |
