And this is where our defense really begins to struggle. We need at least 3 goals to have a chance in this one.

"Begins"?

It's been a struggle all year. As one poster said, Fata is better than Berard and Bergeron as was inserting Aaron Johnson.

How is Fata better the MAB and Berard? I just don't see how people can say that.

Position wise, less turnovers...yes, Bergeron has a rocket for a shot and Berard can score an occasional goal...but we have enough turnover plagued defensemen on this team already

And Fata is such a steady defenmen that he hasn't sniffed the NHL lineup unless people are hurt? We went as far as to sign 2 guys from Germeny last year instead of having Fata play regular time and 6 other guys this off-season.

I mean come on, does MAB and Berard make mistakes...YES but statements like thank god Fata is here is just crazy IMO.

I think I agree with you here.

Fata is more of a stay at home type but being out of NHL game situations/speed
he could be just as susceptible to turnovers as guys who think offensively like Bergeron and Berard.

I think it's a no brainer which 2 any coach wuld want starting out of those 3...even for defense.

Fata is a short term stopgap (on a prayer).

If anything, the added icetime to Meyer, Johnson and Martinek could help us.

Only thing concerning me is which Kolzig will show up for game tonight (been spotty all year),
I do know which Ovechkin will show up so our defensive speed with Sutton and Witt out could help us.

Herein lies my quandry, or perhaps, we have a cunundrum...???

I cannot help but root for this team to win. I would never consider the alernative. Yet, truth be told, I want us to finally get the message that we need to change things here to become a legit cup contender.

So, my perfect scenario? We continue to win, make INTELLIGENT moves at the deadline to improve this team LONG TERM and let the chips fall where they may this season. I have no control over their decision making and while my "sell" opnion is well documented, I simply cannot entertain the thought of a total team collapse just to get what I want.

Hopefully, the brains that run this organization see it too and make the prudent and sometimes difficult calls to put a contender in place.

As always, I'll be watching and rooting for my team.

and while you do all that, I'm going to try and escape from the daily stress of regular life and simply hope my team wins each and every game I watch for the rest of the season. While enjoying that process, I'm gonna allow our owner and GM worry about how to improve the team for years to come.

Canada, no problem. You see it your way and I see it mine. Doesn't make either one of us right. Enjoy the game, I will too.
