that was the worst WIN I have seen in a while...but the 2 points is all that matters.

It would be terrific if our regular cast of characters who sling the same ole horseshit and spam all over these threads (over & over & over) would get a new routine, or find a new web address to spew there unrelenting repetitive garbage...

Steve- your posts once again make total sense! 110% agree with everything you stated. I think we could give teams a run for their money come the playoffs. Especially with Witt and Sutton on their way back!
After a narrow victory in 1994, Boston Bruins defenseman Al Iafrate was asked why, in the closing moments of the game, he had fired the puck around the boards rather than into the empty net. His reply? "Empty-net goals are for faggots"

Thanks for pointing out all the positive's Steve after my long winded post about the bad. :bag:

I almost resurrected the Hilbert Army thread from Oct for you cause of Hilbert's continued great play. the whole he shouldn't be on the 2nd line, Bergy not getting 2nd line time, Tamby should be up here and hilbert should be shipped out for a bag of pucks non-sense.

Anyway....nice post!

Steve, that's why Awesome Andy is at the top of the list in the Penthouse. Also check out 7th Womans blog, as she recognizes Hilbert.

I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

let me start off by saying big 2 points last night! and let me also say that i miss being around knowledgeable hockey fans like yourselves. you go to a thrashers games and the fans have no idea what's going on. all one fan would yell over and over is "blueland!" and "where's hossa?!". then they looked at me like "ha-ha" when the thrashers tied it up. they don't even know what the hell is going on during the game! whatever, but i guess i had the last laugh. ricky was off last night as most of you said. i think he should have had all three besides the penalty shot but i guess he's ailing pretty badly right now. but he's the reason where we are right now so i hope he gets better fast. i'd rest him at least until sunday.

What I don't understand is....Why bash your own team?

While I agree with not trashing the whole team everynight...players have bad stretches and sometimes its an indication of things to come and sometimes its a bad streak. As Shooter stated, there hopefully will be a day when DP is vindicated to his critics much like Eli Manning was this year. However, Eli is not without faults just like DP is not without. DP is on the ice for the whole game and to me Goalies bear the brunt of criticize much like QB's do. Some QB's throw a ton on INT's cause A) the don't make smart decisions and B.) they have no time to make a good decision cause there O-line is bad.

goalies are the same way....Brodeur is great goalie but he also had a good d-system in place....put him on the Isles the last 10 years and he would still be an all-star but I doubt having 84 SO's. As I pointed out to TinMan, look at the top 5 goalies in games played and look at the 16 teams currently in the playoffs...only 4 goalies are part of those 16 teams....that's because you don't need to burn the goalie out if have a good system in play. There might be a day when DP can start 70-75 games a season but he isn't there yet and the Isles need to realize a little rest for DP will go a much longer way in him staying healthily and focused.

DP had a bad night and the Team bailed him out which is great because that's what a team does, DP bail's them out when they can't put a puck in the ocean and they help him out when he can't stop a beach ball. There will always be people like LedZep, 3Poti and Caber09 who can't wait to jump at his mistakes, on the flip side there will be people like Moose, IQ and even Snowy who will defend Rick with equal enthusium. Finally there will be a bunch of us in the middle who see both sides and should be able to point out bad nights or flaws we think we see just like Berard, MAB, Hilbert or a few others.

nice post

What a huge 2 points last night.

(read on if you have time, if not, scroll to the next post)

The look on Nolans face after Holik's goal said it all.
But true to form, he doesn't yell and piss and moan, he believes and trusts his guys
and that's why they respect and want to play for him.

The guy I like to pull for, the underdog on this team, a player often times battling himself
more than the opposition continued to do alot of good things on the top line with Guerin and Comrie.
He's now our seasons plus minus leader at +5 with only 16 points.

Coincidentally, the plus minus stats of Comrie and Guerin has also improved since they received a new left winger.
Yeah, that guy, Andy Hilbert, the target of early season attacks as a scapegoat for our woes continues
to make little plays along the boards that force mistakes and he's slowly gotten some of his scoring up
with confidence.

Richard Park, another role player on this team has continued to plug away and make alot of great decisions while along with Hilbert have been great on the PK.

UFA's??
Satan, Fedotenko and Vasicek now have a weight off their shoulders after the rumormill had them
being shopped. They have alot to prove now to earn a new deal.

Kids? Hope Nielsen is fine but along with Comeau and a MUCH improved and focused Tambellini
we have some energy on that line.

Lastly, what about Bergenheim? When you play a whole game and even in the last 2 shifts
have enough gusto to finish your hits with authority, that is a great sign.

My point? They are playing playoff hockey. Forget the results from 3 weeks ago,
2 weeks ago and even last night. I see some good trends developing.

This team will make it. I believe it.

I though this was Bergie's best game of the year. He was hitting everything and generated alot of scoring chances. he was on his game last night.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

Maybe the death in DP's family had something to do with him playing like he did last night. Otherwise he could be playing hurt (regardless Shooter said his hip looked fine in the shutout last week). I was thinking the game against NJ Dubie should've been in net. Well DP will miss at least one game this weekend I'm sure.
If you see someone down on the ground, you lend them a hand. Unless they're a Rangers fan, then you kick them in the face.

He did look fine against Tampa Bay but it looked like last night he was having difficulty getting out to behind the net to stop the puck.

What else would you expect from Steve.

He has been the voice of reason since the old MSG board.

Thank god for his intelligent posts, they make my day complete.

I said it earlier in the thread that DP must still be hurt. One the Holik goal. Everyone still thinks that DP should have saved it but yet know one posted that it deflected off of Davison's skate. Stats can be misleading ecspecially when the goalie has a steady team in front of him. How many games did DP win when we could not put a puck in the net. Some people seem to forget about the good and focus on the bad. It also seems that some people just post DP negativity and nothing else that seems to pertain to Hockey or the islanders. Yes I have not posted often but I read all the posts. DP is tied for fifth in Games Played and Tenth in wins Yet out of the top ten goalies 5 of them make more money.
