We outshot, outworked and outhustled a Panthers team with their backup goalie
and managed zero goals in a must win.

It doesn't get any worse than this,
especially when it follows a "Core of the 4" celebration.

I hope our greats were paid handsomely for their appearances or their charities were
given some donation's for their taking the time to band together once again.

That great dynasty was a great part of my teenage years but I truly hope the emphasis from
here on in is going forward with building a winner. I know they care but they need results.
Seeing Dave Langevins belly and bald head isn't going to ease the pain of the current funk
but only serve as a constant reminder as to how long it's been.
No matter how unique and special it was.

The season is NOT over. But now, they have put themselves in a hell of a position where they
have to win the next 3 to get their confidence back. Forget the one game at a time stuff.
Desperation is no longer around the corner, we're crashing through it and it hurts.

I would think it would be an honor to be invited back, being given a great weekend etc, would be enough. But I'm just asking. I never heard baseball players (except Joe DiMaggio) being given money to show up for an old timer's day.

Valid point but this org has clearly been pimping these guys out to sell tickets etc for years now.

What you say is valid. I wish it weren't so because after a while you become oversaturated with living in the past.

i agree that the celebrations of the cup teams has run its course. The last cup wsa won in 1983. I was born in 1984. Im 23 years old and consider myself a die hard fan but that team the pimp out 4 times a year is not MY team. Ive yet to see MY team. One that i can cheer for and tell my children about.

It worries me that the more we become consumed with the past success of this team the more the current team will suffer. Is it motivation for today's players to become that team of the 80s or is a constant reminder that in the eyes of the fans theyll never be good enough.

IMO enough with the old. This team needs its own identity. One thats not 25 years old

When you have a past like that, you never throw it away or forget it.

From 1975-1984, the Isles were the epitome of what an organization should be and were the best run organization in sports. Can you name another team since 1970 in ANY sport that failed to make the final 4 of their sport only once in a 10 year period? Even the Atlanta Braves can't claim that.

They are your team because your past is a part of you.

I think the past celebrations have no effect on the current team. The current management just needs to do a better job...that's all.

And we will have a very good idea how Garth is doing on that front come this year's draft with all the picks he's stockpiled.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

We need more Cup celebrations every year until those players go to hockey heaven.

Otherwise our celebration would be Master Bates penalty shot Vs. Toronto

Now lets bring out our guest of honor Shawn Bates
Everybody look up at the screen to watch the infamous penalty shot.
Where were you when Bates scored on that penalty shot.
DP's interview on his thoughts of Bates penalty shot.
