Cause he doesn't know NHL talent - The question is has he hired the best people to run the hockey side of things. I'm not just talking about Garth but all the committee members, just cause they are made up of mostly former Isles players does that mean they are best to help make the decisions? In business you surround yourself with great minds to help evaluate business options, are these the best hockey minds or they only the best of the ones that would buy into his committee system? |

Canada... I wasn't against playing Dubie either last night, but it wasn't so much that "Dubie was hot". He played well, don't get me wrong, but he let up a single goal against a FLA team that had very few scoring chances and three goals against the RAggies. It wasn't like Dubie stood on his head. no, I felt the hot hand was more "the way the team played in front of Dubie". Vs. Fla and at msg the Isles had few breakdowns. Dubie played well, but he wasn't standing on his head. Regardless of who played at NVMC, I don't think it would have mattered. Our forwards gave another uninspired performance with a single goal scored. Don't know if DP would have held the Raggies under2 goals with the way we decided to let Avery and a host of others stand in the slot uncovered all night. You are right that if this team does anything, it will be DP who gets us there, but I don't think the other 18 guys last night were really in the mood to go anywhere based on their play. jmo |

YOU GUYS REALIZE THAT OVER IN THE RANGER MESSAGE BOARDS THEY ARE LAUGHING AND TRASHING US UP LIKE OLD GARBAGE AND ITS NOT BECAUSE THE RAGS PLAYED SO GREAT LAST NIGHT. ITS BECAUSE WE PLAYED LIKE sh!t! The Isles have done this in every BIG GAME this year. Just as they have a chance to overtake someone or get on the cusp of a big move, they fall flat on their faces with a pathetic effort. Haven't you noticed that by now? They will work hard and get themselves within two points of the 8 spot, and then fall apart again with a no effort night. That is the m.o. of this team. Has been all season long. As for what the Rags fans say, I started tuning them out in the 70's. I could care less what a bunch of uneducated morons who know nothing about hockey have to say. |

This is why we suck and have been mediocre for years. I know all about the injuries and the talent level here but NYI takes periods off much too often. If they could play well like that in the 2nd period there's no excuse for not showing up in the 1st and 3rd periods. Isles hockey - where mediocrity thrives!!!!!!!! |

It thrives because Wang accepts it. And don't tell me he doesn't. Sometimes I feel he is holding the whole arena/land deal stuff over our heads as a reason not to use the cap money to make this team better. |

Absolutely. We're just bystanders my friend. Let's hope the town and Wang can compromise and everyone will be happy. Wang is a billionaire because he is a smart businessman and he knows this piece of land is a goldmine. The Islanders aren't -- they are just one piece of the puzzle to make it work. |

I dont blame Wang for this. He was willing to pay for Drury, Gomez and Smyth but they didn't want to come here. He is in a tricky spot in that he is losing money, has a team that is floundering to get into the playoffs and cant get the big project he wants. Screw Nassau and move to Queens or Brooklyn already!! |

Wow....that's not how I meant it at all. I was agreeing with this part of your post...
I simply added that they have done this in every big spot this season so it shouldn't have been a surprise. Has nothing to do with being "the man" or "a fool"...especially since we were in agreement. Jeez |

Read this in Brooks' column today and was wondering what others made of it. Im not sure. This is pasted from the column. If Ted Nolan started Dubielewicz over DiPietro against the Rangers on Thursday in order to prove a point to GM Garth Snow, then the Islanders and Nolan lost three points that night. |
