LOL.... Some of the comments on this board are funny.

I watched the Florida feed and Potvin put the blame on the 3rd goal squarely on two people... Bergie and Hunter!!!

Yep, Bergie started to charge the man at the point even though it was Hunter's man and then stopped and pealed off. Hunter then started coming to him and stopped 20' away. All of this starting and stopping allowed the defender to double clutch on the shot and let a shot go and allowed the new Isles defensemen to throw a great screen on DP while chasing a Fla guy who drove the net from the corner.

Neither Hunter (who's responsibility was the shooter and he had the puck for 6 seconds and Hunter never closed in on him from 25' feet away), nor Bergie communicated or got to the shooter.

Our own all time great defensemen Denis Potvin saw it and made the comment... "The two Isles forwards missed an assignment and allowed far too much time for that shot to be taken."

Yet NO ONE on this board mentioned it. Where does the finger get pointed? Well, we already know the answer to that one.

Would I have liked to see DP do more to fight through that screen? Yes. But when the Fla player and our own player set a solid screen and our two wings don't come within 20' of the shooter...don't cry to me about the goaltending.

Unbelieveable.

BTW---how are we going to win games when we take a whopping 3 shots in the final period? From the beginning of the second period to 5 minutes left in the third, the Isles managed 10 shots on goal. After having around 17 in the first period alone.

Place the blame whereever you'd like. We only played one good period tonight. The Panthers controlled play throughout the second and third period. They deserved the game.

Maybe DP will lose out the rest of the season

Isn't that what you were praying for since October 2?

It sucks that we didn't beat the Panthers this year, but every point lost is better for us now. Get as HIGH in the draft as possible, keep working up (down actually) in the standings. I don't think we can be as bad as Tampa and LA, but we can be caught by St. Louis and Atlanta. Would love to have a top 5 pick this year. Now Im getting draft greedy, see, you never truly lose, hahaha!!!

i can't really complain.. the effort level was there and the kids played well.

all i ask for is an honest effort and for the young guys to gain valuable experience and improve with it.

plus the nice draft pick doesn't hurt :D .
"We're not in a bind at all," Burke said. "I'd say of the 29 teams, we don't talk to Edmonton, so of the 28 other teams, there's plenty of interest in making this predicament go away. I could hang up the phone and solve this."

For a guy that made the All Star team and looked like he’d finally matured,
DP has been reduced to a child once again. Sorry guys, looks like

we’re going to have to wait until next year…again. :comp:

After a narrow victory in 1994, Boston Bruins defenseman Al Iafrate was asked why, in the closing moments of the game, he had fired the puck around the boards rather than into the empty net. His reply? "Empty-net goals are for faggots"

Well, if DP would handle the puck more and create scoring opportunities .... oops. Sorry.
