Comrie boiled my blood all night. He produced NOTHING! Though its only the 1st game, i'm already calling for a trade.

from Comrie's performance, he deserves to be benched. Pathetic.

Kudos to Mac D and Sim  Those guys are the kind of Islanders I hope to see all season

For a first game, this one was not so bad.

Here are the positives as I see them:

* Streit is head-and-shoulders above Bergeron/Berard and that will make a big difference on the PP. He can actually drag the puck and made some difficult skill passes that CONNECTED. It was a pleasure to watch.

* Hillen was also impressive - I liked that he went after Langenbrunner when he crashed the net.

* Sim was one of the few to go to the net on a consistent basis. It will be good to see him play more this year and bring some jam with him.

* Tambellini had some chances by going to the net. I did not see that from him last year. He needs to do more of it.

* Joey Mac was solid. I didn't like the way they let Dubie go, but for 1 day at least, it didn't make a difference.

On another note: What exactly did Thompson bring? Put in Comeau and push Comrie to center.

Every point you just listed I noticed during the game, and I remember distinctly. Kinda weird, my brain is my haven...get out.

I disagree about Hillen. I thought he was the Isles worst defenseman. He got caught a few times leading to odd man rushes, fell on his backside while coughing up the puck leading to another opportunity. I hope he improves.

Hillen and Meyer on the PP = 1st pick in draft.

He looked soft while Hillen's best aspect was pushing bodies near the crease.

I totally agree. Good point.

In terms of offensive vision, give some kudo's to hillen but in terms of reliability on defense,
the kid struggled last night.

yet we still only lost 2-1 vs a team that i feel will finish top 4 in conference.

A few things I took from tonight...

1) Very nice job by MacDonald. Nothing more, nothing less.
2) Sim was our best player. I really thought I would like him and what I pictured was what we got tonight. Double-digit goals, crash the net, PP or PK guy, I like him.
3) Didn't like the way Radek looked or played at all. I am a big supporter of Radek. One game of course, but just going off one game.
4) One of the most ho-hom slow games. Both sides. It was really weird, very few (posts, penalty shot) stand up momments.
5) After scoring a goal, the next few minutes are so Fing crucial and we don't even play 50 seconds and we take a penalty and than allow a goal.
6) So many guys seem like the same type of player, a little under-sized, not dominant in any attribute, make one rush, turn the puck over, etc.

To me, every game against the Devils is very slow and boring. Its thier def system. Its just not exciting but yet it wins hockey games.
