4 coaches in, One of them has finally made it crystal clear to Rick who calls the shots. THAT is a very important and good thing. |

Dissapointed in the loss, however its a loss that i can live with. The team didn't give up and played hard, which is good because i dident want to spend the last two periods wondering what happend to DP. |

It was an injury - not a performance issue. I don't think any message was sent here. DiPietro Hurt 9:55 pm - Scott Gordon said in his post-game press conference that Rick DiPietro was pulled after the first period because he wasn’t healthy enough to continue. Gordon, citing team policy, said he would not and could not reveal the injury. “I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but our team has a policy and I am told not to discuss injuries,” said Gordon. “Until someone tells me otherwise, that’s the way it’s going to be.” More on DiPietro in the next hour, in our game recap. |

So his injury caused him to throw the puck up the center of the ice? And if it was an injury they really are screwed... Rest him until he is totally healed. |

Agreed. I don't care if he was hurt or not. I can't stand it when defensemen throw the puck blindly up the center of our ice...I certainly don't want to see a goalie do it with a stick as easy to control as a Cricket bat. Whether DP was hurt or not, pulling him to send a message would have been the right move. Though he should have controlled the rebound on the second goal, I put that one more on Franz because you can't make two mistakes like that. I hope Gordon is laying down a bit of the law, but I hope this isn't the only case. Gervais needs his minutes cut because he SUCKS right now and so does Franz and Tambelini because they wouldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat. They'd somehow avoid contact. |
I miss these and want more of them ![]()

10:15 pm - Rick DiPietro just told a throng of reporters camped out at his locker room stall that he did not want to talk about his injury, saying “it has become a distraction.” http://www.islanderspointblank.com/2008/10...r-how/#comments |

I'll tell you what happened. During warm-ups, Trent Hunter took a shot that hit Ricky in his jewels . He was on the ice for a minute or two, but he wasn't the same after that. He looked like crap the whole game. Even on the bench.

2 friends and I had a bookie in college in 1980-I have to again thank the Isles for funding my Spring Break Florida trip. This team would be a good one to bet against, except this game they would have covered the spread. Is Wang so cheap that we have to have Hillen out there? Our defense looks to be structured around giving open shots from 15 feet in the slot. |

so cheap to have to have Hillen out there???? Are you kidding me. Do you not know that our top 3 defenseman are currently injured and not playing. Usually, your 9th dman in the organization is not an NHL caliber Dman and Hillen is far from ready. I'm sure he will be going down when Sutton is ready. |

The team stinks. And it won't get any better this season. When your defense corp is filled with players like Meyer, Hillen, Gervais, etc it's depressing. When you have washed up vets gliding around the ice on the PP it's sad. When you see mostly four line players out there, you want to puke that you paid for a damn combo plan. Boy, was I stupid. This team reminds me of the first two years of the Islanders franchise's existence. There isn't a player on this team, with the exception of Witt, who could play for the Cup teams. This shows how far they have to go to be seriously competing for the Cup. |

I don't disagree there. So we're in the first year of the franchise again. I'm not jumping off a bridge yet until I see the draft results of this June. |

This is not 1972 with Al Arbour and Bill Torrey. The scenario the Isles are in has been taking place since 1985. These new kids are average at best. Tamby been weaving his magic for a few years now. Octopus seems lost Gretsky - Bossy -Trotts did not take 3 or 4 year to developed Right off the bat you could see they were GREAT not good But GREAT You sense nothing like this with the current Isles. NOTE: I know Gretsky was not an Islander but just using him as a example |
