We sat on the lead, instead of continuing to play hard. 40 minutes of hard play will not get you the win. You need to play 60! |

I can't believe that for 40 minutes, we outplayed them, but can't put'em away. If Gordon doesn't put them through hell tomorrow, something is seriously wrong here. Total lack of effort in the third killed us.

Wow. Pitiful play. This is the kind of sh!t that makes me ashamed to call the Islanders my favorite team. They needed one more strong period and the entire game crumbled to little pieces. This game showed exactly why missing the number one goaltender is dangerous. Danis looked like a pee-wee goalie. I definitely retract my statement of liking the system. Gordon either needs to tweak it or maybe it only works in the AHL because tonight showed when the other team presses hard, there is no system and a system can't work for only 40 minutes. Pitiful. |

Well if it's any consolation..The Rangers blew a 3rd period lead too. They gave up 5 goals in the 3rd

By the way, did anyone see the score of the rags game. They game up 5 in the third and lost to TO. At least I can be happy about something. |

Wow. WTF was that in the 3rd period? Outshot 16-2. Threw away a 3 goal lead into a 1 goal defeat. AFter 4-2 they ran around their own end like a bunch of peewee players. They didn't defend the 15' of the slot at all. I'm sorry, but BRUNO GERVAIS, Franz Neilsen and POCK are brutal in their own end. Will Gervais ever take the man in front and get physical with him? Does Pock have a map and compass because he is completely lost out there. And Franz...I'm sorry, but your coverage in our zone alone should have you sent back to B-port. When are you ever going to get the extra man in the slot like a center should? 16 shots and 4 goals...all from within 15' of the net. Supposedly the toughest place to get the puck in the nhl because of the opposing defense, but not against us. And can ANYONE tell me what Franz has done to earn PT on the pp and in the last minute when we need a goal? How does he merit time but Okposo doesn't? Tonight was a pefect example of what has plagued this team for...forever. It doens't matter who is in between the pipes when we constantly leave people open in the low slot. Rule number one in hockey that the teach you right after you learn to double knot your skates is ....NEVER LEAVE A MAN ALONE IN FRONT OF YOUR NET!!!! How often do we do that? Every one of their goals tonight. Just pathetic. They turned the best 40 minutes of hockey this season into a 20 minute nightmare. Happy Halloween

This had NOTHING to do with the system. They played great for 40 minutes and forechecked the #$%@ out of Montreal. The system was fine...SO LONG AS THEY SKATED. They didn't skate in the 3rd and look what happened. This had nothing to do with Gordon or "the system" or Dennis in net. This was defensemen not clearing the front, centers like Franz "I don't want to break a nail" Neilsen not taking the body in front. Did you see how long Habs players were camped in front without being touched or how they were looking like Jason Blake skating all over our zone with the puck without being touched? If you don't skate, you don't win. Our defense stopped playing...and that is everyone. We didn't forecheck, backcheck or work hard in our own end...and we threw away two points. I hope Gordon skates their asses until they puke. IN fact, I'd love to see him pull a Herb Brooks and put them back on the ice right now and make them skate Herbies for that pathetic effort in the third. Herb did it in Sweden. Do it now. |

I definitely don't want to see Gordon talk about the positives because they were all overshadowed by that third period. No one in an Islander sweater played. I knew this season would be crappy, but not like that. That is embarrassing. Pock needs to go. Comrie needs to go. I like Gervais, but he is a poor player. |

Sadly, I wish Gervais was better, but something definitely needs to be done with those players. Pock should be phased out once Witt, Martinek and Meyer return, but by then... how many loses will we see? |

I think Pock was this year's Berard. He wasn't going to be in the rotation barring a rash of injuries. Well, Sutton, FM4, Witt, and Martinek later...here he is. Pock is worse than MAB in his own end and I didn't think that were possible. |
