Right after Howie said it, I said to my gf: it's a matter of counting down till it gets blown.

Hopefully Your gf says the same exact thing to you to celebrate this win.

:sexy:

I'm not actually mad at Howie, but every hockey fan knows you never say the s-word until the buzzer sounds. It's a superstition thing.

LOL @ Raggies. They couldn't beat our "AHL goalie" on their home ice.

Typical bs from the Raggies. What a bunch of biatches!!!!

Great game Joey Mac. Hopefully it will soon silence once and for all everyone who was so crushed when we didn't resign Wade D....an avg. backup goalie at best.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

Could be worse, he could be wearing a DiPietro 2008 jersey. Maybe its a Jason Blake.

He has sure silenced me. :WORSHIP:
Not that I've been posting constantly about my worries with Joey but I admit I've had my strong doubts.

If he continues like this there's no need to worry.
Also, there will be no need for a change when "you-know-who" is back.

Joey Mac. Ranger killer....

Great game by our penalty killers. Richard Park is the hottest player in an Isles uniform right now. Mike Comrie, the worst.

I have to say I was getting a little worried in the 2nd that we were wiped out from back to back 'overspeed' games, but we held in there and our goalie stole the game. It helped that we blocked 30 shots and some of the best Rag chances went wide, but it's part of winning, getting some breaks along with great goaltending.

I wish howie would wait until the post game to open his mouth about shutouts and history.

Mitch Fritz is not only big and can fight, but the man gets infront of the net and creates a wall. He also causes defenseman to quake when coming in on the forecheck and forces them cough the puck up, and he even skates hard to get back into position. For a huge guy that doesnt look like he can skate very well, I've been pleasantly surprised.

It's just always great to get a win at MSG.

I think Comrie needs to visit the press-box for a few games to motivate his a@@.

JOEY MACDONALD! 1st, 2nd and 3rd star!

Poor guys should have gotten the shutout but that takes nothing away from
his spectacular play.

POSITIVES:
After goaltending. Our penalty killers. What a great job. Hunter, Nielsen, Hilbert,
Thompson and of course, Richard Park who is in mid season form.

COACHNG. Yes, the guy i've been critical of. Scott Gordon, NEVER
stopped talking to his players on the bench following shifts where
they made mistakes. He didn't yell, stayed the course and that gives players confidence.
Even if we lost this game, this was a very good sign from our coach.

The 2 whipping boys? Tambellini and Nielsen. Tambellini showed more signs of showing he GETS IT.
Very encouraging. Now get your first goal. As for Frans Nielsen. His hard work impressed me but nothing more than a little play that may have gone unnoticed by most.
Late in the 3rd period with a little over 3 minutes to play, Nielsen, on the end of a shift, pounced on a loose puck in the slot and dropped his shoulder and tried to drive around the Rangers defenseman.
When you're tired at the end of a shift it's easy to make a mental mistake and make a lazy play.
Nielsen showed confidence and determination
As he skated back towards the bench this Islander fan was loudly applauding his effort.
All this in the 3rd game in 4 nights. Frans Nielsen needs to keep this up. Loved it.

NEGATIVES:
Listen there are no negatives when you go into MSG and send a bunch of
Ranger fans home pissed off.

Yes, even Mike (I'm skating dragging a deployed parachute on my back) Comrie gets a pass.

Great game, great win and we weathered that second period storm without a collapse.

And I agree- Park is the best player on this team on both ends of the ice and Comrie is pathetic. Can he glide around any more than he does?

Tamby and Nielsen took a step forward, IMO, and hopefully will continue to do so.

And Joey- well, he did himself proud.

Now let's put together four or five and get back in the race. And the system, if we do that, will be embraced, used and be successful.

I'm closer to a LOVE TRAIN...... :lovetrain: but not quite yet.

This is the type of team that wins cups.... Lets keep it up boys!
After a narrow victory in 1994, Boston Bruins defenseman Al Iafrate was asked why, in the closing moments of the game, he had fired the puck around the boards rather than into the empty net. His reply? "Empty-net goals are for faggots"

Congrats Islander fans. Quite a game.

MacDonald was amazing and the Isles PK was obviously the difference. You can't not only not score on your own PP, but also allow SH goals and expect to win games.

I really wish Trent Hunter was on my team.

I kept saying to my buddy as it got later and later that this was the type of game the Rangers will lose. We dominate statistically but can't beat the hot goalie. Had a real bad feeling about this one with about 5:00 left in the 2nd.

I said earlier, the Rangers brutal loss in Toronto is one that could trigger a long losing streak. This game did not alter that thinking.

Either way, for those whom went last night, hope you had a good time and weren't treated poorly.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Speaking of being treated poorly. Michal Rozsival did not deserve those boobird showers.
Wade Redden (still not 100% from that last ankle injury IMO) had some lazy plays
and there was plenty of blame to go around.

Zherdev tried to do too much with the puck just inside the isles blue line on a couple of chances
and Mark Staal, someone who's been very good made some huge mistakes that luckily for him didn't turn into goals against.

Bottom line was, we got much needed confidence from good goaltending
and just enough goals to eke out a win.
