Awesome game! Everyone played really hard. I made it to the game with one of my friends and even was on the pic on the main page of the Isles site with a friend of mine!!!! (im on the left) hahaha

After a narrow victory in 1994, Boston Bruins defenseman Al Iafrate was asked why, in the closing moments of the game, he had fired the puck around the boards rather than into the empty net. His reply? "Empty-net goals are for faggots"

Jackman- Impressive, lotta heart and fills the toughness void rather well. Guerin stated "I have no idea what he's doing out there, I just hope he keeps doing it". Cool stuff and he had 5 shots on goal last night. He is the difference between someone who wants it badly and someone who doesn't give a crap (read Comrie). Nick has been touting Jackman for quite a while on this board and while I was not convinced earlier, I am now. This guy will do whatever it takes to be a part of this team and it is nice to see.

Quickly becoming my new favorite Islander.

Mine too! He is a completely different player than last year. Gotta love the hustle!

With DiPietro out, it seems as if Joey MacDonald's stock is going way up.
Asset. He is an asset. Who knew? Not me. heck, we said if one of Tambellini
or Nielsen would have a breakout year we'd be lucky. So far Nielsen is on his way.

Crap, pinch me. These Islanders are fun to watch. I expected a huge loss because,
like the arrogant Vancouver media envisioned, we do not match up well against the 'nucks.

Well, bad ice, no ice...we outhit them 28-17.
28-17 baby. We had guys forcing them to make that extra pass and never relented and when they had great chances, MacDonald was a brick wall.

Cool game eh?

what is Jackman eating for breakfast...I need to get me some of that.

Side note: Has anyone seen the msg plus promo for the game on Friday? It's something like "With Martin Brodeur out...who will the Isles face in goal" then they show Kevin Weeks....the announcer chuckles and says "they may as well play with an empty net" :o ..or something like that.

...that's not very nice

MSG is full of d-bags.

I think I'd be one of those DP loyalists. I think very highly of his skill, and Joey Mac actually won me over as a legit backup and currently he is making himself look as much like a number one as possible. Like Jackman, he is making the most of his opportunity. With regards to DP, no his numbers haven't looked very good the last few seasons. I think we will see a different DP when he returns because the Islanders are playing confidently and the system is working. Last year, Nolan's system just didn't cut it and it was obvious. Until January, the only reason the Islanders were in contention was because of DP. His numbers may not have been the best, but he was the difference maker. When the injuries piled on, the ship crumbled. I'm not going to make excuses for why his numbers are not better, but as we've seen the team and system in front of the goalie makes a world of difference. This season we have a working and fun system, and players who completely buy into it (with the exception of Comrie). I think DP will look fine when he returns because he won't have to carry the team. He has defenders in front of him blocking shots and taking away lanes, playing smart hockey. That's all I have to say.

I really hope Garth trades Comrie before he returns. I don't care what the Isles get: 7th rounder, fine. Keep him away from the Islander ice.

Okposo seemed to hurt his hand (right i think). I saw the trainer looking at his hand on the bench.

Jackman was a man possessed. When/where did this guy learn to skate? The rest of the team should see whoever taught him. I'd never have thought that Jackman would be used on the PK.

Invisibillini seemed to be rooted on the bench from about the midway point of the third.

There was a Canucks fan with his wife/mother in 328 who would not stop with the "Nassau Coliseum sucks" comments. Sure our barn is a dump, but you know what? IT'S OUR DUMP, my buddy(not JBlake55, but another fellow Corrections official who is a Rangers fan none other) looked over and said "Keep talking sh*t and i'm gonna scrape bacon from your mom's thighs." Comments over. I think I'm starting to convert the masses to the Blue n' Orange side!
