What the heck is going on with Mike Comrie?

Here's what I have observed of him over the first month:

- Skating extremely slow and sloppy
- Making way too many behind the back - blind passes resulting in turnovers.
- Can't seem to stick handle
- Every move he makes seems sluggish and predictible.

I find myself screaming at my TV when I see him with the puck. He does not look like the same player we had a year ago. I have heard suggestions that he may be playing thru an injury, but I find that hard to believe - especially with the islanders shady injury policies.

So is it a slump or what? I'm stumped. I hope he turns it around. I have been this frustrated with an Islanders player since Oleg Kvasha!

Maybe he should cut about 10 inches off his stick. :P I've always heard about playing with a long stick, but geesh.

After watching 5 games he is my least favorite player out there. I'd rather sit him and play anyone. He can't do anything right and he doesn't hustle. I made a nickname for him.

Now I dont know his personality, I dont know his priorities, but I can tell you he seems disinterested and unmotivated from both my seat at the coliseum and my seat on the couch.

Could Trevor Smith-center be waiting in the wings or can we at least get an idea when we might see Josh Bailey finally play a game. At this point I'd take either with youthful enthusiasm over 'ho-hum' Mike Comrie.

And here I defended him two weeks ago as being one of the few who are somewhat consistent in scoring. And he has 8pts in 12 games, but would it be so hard to post those numbers with some liveliness, some emotion, some purpose?
I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

He was our worst player on the ice for at least the last five games. Tamby, who is struggling but trying, gets a seat, yet this bum eats up ice time with no productivity at all.

Can he stop with the little push passes that get picked off? Or pick up a guy in the defensive zone? Or score a meaningful goal? Hell, I'd even take a shift where he actually touches the puck.

Lose him, he is killing us. And one more thing, when guys like Weight, Guerin, Hunter, Park, Hilbert etc. can buy into a system and give an effort to make it work, why can't this a-hole do the same.

Sit him and bring Comeau up. I know Gordon thinks he is out of shape, but he can't possibly be as bad as Comrie. And he'll be HUNGRY and EAGER to EARN and keep a spot on this roster.

-Maybe he needs the paparazzi around to motivate him.
-Maybe he only signed on to play w/ Teddy again and is now pissed.
-Maybe this is how he played MOST of last year, and you all just forgot.
-Maybe he's a rich kid, set for life and realized he doesn't wanna play on a rebuild team since he don't need the money.
-Maybe he doesn't buy into either the new system or coach.
-Maybe he just simply sux.
-Maybe all of the above

I agree completely.

And the last thing we need is our " skilled " players not working to their potential consistantly. At least in some aspect of their game more that intermittent flashes.

I think he's realized that Nielsen and Weight are in the good books of Gordon with their designated center roles while he's being slotted in wherever the coach deems necessary

probably not too happy about it

I'd keep him til the deadline because someone will overpay for him moreso than if we were to deal him now

I think it really depends on who else is available at the deadline to judge if teams are willing to overpay. A happy meal would be overpayment at this juncture.

If he put as much effort into making the tabloids with Hillary Duff as he hockey he'd be superstar. He's like Derek Jeter without the talent

Because Brad and Angelina Jolie are always parading their adoptive kids in front of photographers.

Back to Comrie, what's wrong with his forehead?
