Tim Jackman, the man, the myth. What can't you say about this guy but how much impact he's having on the lineup. His game has been fun to watch. He gives his all, drops the gloves, forces turnovers, rushes down the ice, crashes the net, draws penalties, kills penalties. 6 shots last night, very very impressive game, which is becoming expected of him. Easily becoming a fan favorite. To Tim Jackman, , I salute you. ![]() From this mornings TSN: Tim Jackman, who had three prime scoring chances on Luongo in the second period, drew the penalty the Islanders turned into their goal. Jackman stole the puck from Mason Raymond while New York was short-handed and skated in alone. Raymond slashed him from behind just before he got off a drive. |

Tim Jackman is the perfect example of making the most of a golden opportunity that doesnt come along to many. Maybe it's his workman like approach, someone who was never suppose to make it, just makes him more determined than someone who's 'destined' to be in the NHL. I dont know, but Tim Jackman brings it each and every time he steps on the ice and what he lacks in talent he makes up 10 fold by his effort. It's just the type of hockey player I love, someone who'll do the job whatever it calls for no matter how ugly it can get. It's character like that that's needed for a successful team, and if he cant be considered a piece in this rebuild, neither can KO. |

Nick, you made a very good comparison to Sillinger last week. Jackman does little things like driving to the net to force the defenseman to cave down low, opening a lane for his linemates. Finishes checks, uses his stick to take away a passing lane, reads his options for defensive coverage instead of just patrolling his wing. And he stands up for his team. I am MOST pleasantly surprised at what a PEST he is on the penalty kill. Was it me or did many of the other guys FEED off his energy in the 3rd and force the Canucks puck carriers? The Canucks are a team we do not match up well against because they are a puck possession team and Gordon's system worked against them and Tim Jackman was a key player in that 2-1 win. To Tom's point, interesting eh? I've heard plenty of "yes, but skilled players take longer..." "Tambellini's skill-set is such that you have to be patient..." "Tambellini..." bla-bla-bla-frigging bla bla bla. When will Billy Harris speak up and complain that his number is being disgraced?

On his energy. Both the Ottawa game on Saturday and last nights game the tide of both games changed when Jackman dropped the gloves, changing the onslaught of momentum both teams were taking to us in the first. |

I didn't care for Jackman last season, but then I didn't care for Nolan's system and use of the young players. You're right about Jackman this season. He's doing everything right. If he keeps it up, then I think he is a perfect addition to the rebuild. I still think he needs to take some fighting lessons. I appreciate that he initiates and protects his teammates, but I would like to see some more wins from him. |

Not sure if you caught his post game interview but he credited his improved skating to some work he did in Minnesota. Thats what you want to hear, I think we all thought his skating was awful last season, he got the message and worked on it. Well done Tim Jackman!

Tim Jackman impressed me last season, but this season he seems even better. All people have been talking about is getting an enforcer who can play the game? We already have him. No need to have Fritz on the roster. Jackman should be in the lineup every night. |

I like the way he's playing but he is not a good fighter. Plus, he's more of a middleweight. If he had to fight the Cotes, Laraques, Orrs, etc, he'd be dead. We still need a heavyweight who can play a little. It hasn't hurt us so far though. |

Bubi, Tambellini. I can't believe he's taking a spot away from Comeau. His game is as ugly as sin. He's had more than enough time over the past three years to prove himself and he hasn't. How much longer must this go on???? http://www.thehockeynews.com/imgs/dynamiqu...al/h031542A.jpg |

I've been very impressed with Jackman so far as well. I learned something intersting last night in that he was originally a 2nd round pick of Columbus in 2001 so he was obviously highly rated coming into the draft. Maybe he just needed time to blossom and he sure has made the most of this opportunity. I notice him on every shift he is out of there. He deserves a spot on this roster for the foreseeable future. |

Nick has been on this guy right from the start and I have to admit- he fits in nicely. He has energy, some guts and plays with an edge. He is noticeable on every shift be it from a good hit, good pass or being in the right place. A keeper for sure. |

I'm available for scouting. Logan hears us.... Newsday.com article link Jackman's impact felt by Isles BY GREG LOGAN greg.logan@newsday.com 8:39 PM EST, November 18, 2008 With 10 minutes, 25 seconds of playing time, fourth-line right wing Tim Jackman had the least ice time of any Islander in their 2-1 shootout win over Vancouver on Monday night at the Coliseum. But Jackman might have made the biggest impact of anyone except for goaltender Joey MacDonald. After the Islanders went down 1-0 in the first minute, it was Jackman and linemates Richard Park and Jon Sim who provided the energy to sustain an attack on nearly impenetrable Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo. Jackman tied captain Bill Guerin for the team lead with six shots on goal, but he did it in about half the time, including no time on the power play. He also got the best of a first-period fight with former Islander Rob Davison and added four hits. Jackman and Park were doing a bang-up job on the penalty kill in the second period when Jackman blasted Vancouver defenseman Mason Raymond to the ice at the Canucks' blue line, grabbed the puck and skated in alone on Luongo. "On that breakaway, I didn't get it up high enough," Jackman said, "but there wasn't much to shoot at because he's such a big goalie." But Jackman's pressure did draw a slashing penalty from Raymond as he scrambled in a vain attempt to stop the breakaway, and the ensuing power play resulted in the tying goal by the Islanders' Doug Weight. One minute after Weight's goal, Jackman was back firing two left-circle shots on Luongo, and he pressured again late in the third in a two-on-one rush with Park. "We were able to get in on the forecheck and skate and cause some havoc out there," Jackman said. "It feels good. We're starting to play as a team and play the system and good things are happening." Isles coach Scott Gordon starts almost every period with a line of Andy Hilbert, Park and Jackman to set the tone, and then he puts Sim at left wing later while Hilbert moves to a different line. "Those guys are key guys for us because they can establish momentum for us if we don't have any," Gordon said. "That's usually through making the right decisions." Notes & quotes: D Brendan Witt will be activated from injured reserve today after recovering from a sprained knee suffered a month ago ... RW Kyle Okposo will be out for a week with an undisclosed hand injury, requiring a forward to be called up from Bridgeport ... C Mike Sillinger, who is recovering from microfracture hip surgery, is scheduled to play three games in Bridgeport on Sunday and Nov. 28-29 as part of a conditioning stint. |

You'd be great as a scout, for sure. And it goes to show, you don't have to be the fastest guy on the ice to play the system. You need to be in the right spot and be aggressive. Good call on the Jack Hammer...

Hell, just to show you how little I know, I liked him last season. A little slow, but I liked his attude. And like Nick this year I love him. His quote "We were able to get in on the forecheck and skate and cause some havoc out there," Jackman said. "It feels good. We're starting to play as a team and play the system and good things are happening." makes me feel good all over, the system is starting to work. Between Jackman's quote and CB's blog today I feel warm all over.
