I don't know if anyone posted this but I watched the highlights today and I actually thought I saw a replay of "the goal" when Bailey found Campoli in OT. But then Campoli missed and I realized it was just a poor copy.

Campoli was devastated that he missed that. It was a beautiful play by Josh. |

Don't get me wrong here, I will gladly take the two points. And we finally got a lucky break that went our way. Truth is, they owned us for most of the night and if it wasn't for our twenty or something blocked shots and Joey, Joey, Joey we could have seen an ugly one. Too many friggin' penalties (some questionable, for sure) again. We worked hard and never gave up, a positive that payed off in the end. As for the kid, while I was thrilled to see it happen when I saw him on the bench I kinda felt sorry for him. He's gonna get fried by the media. And I think it was a mistake not to put him back in. Again, I'll take it but would've preferred a hard nosed goal by us late and a winner in OT (Campy from Bailey would've been nice). |

I just watched the replay.... Dam did we get luck with the o'bryne goal! I gotta say tho.. I hope we keep Baily in the line up. He's proven himself more that Tambs and Comrie combined. |

We've won 5 of 6, how about that. I dont care if we were out played, out shot, out hit, out face offed, none of it matters as we found a way to take two points IN Montreal. MacDonald, Park, Weight, Hunter, Bailey, Witt, Sutton, Bergenheim all played a gutsy game. This team is fun to watch and I dont count them out even when they are down. I will say we do need Okposo back. |

It's funny. They have been showing those commercials of "the goal" where that guy talks about great sporting moments in the tri-state area. I was thinking the timing on Tonelli's part was just awesome and then Bailey does a play that is nearly the same. Great play, and something that we need to see more of. I had a flashback of Turgeon when he hit the post. I know I know. Hold my horses.... |

Bailey cannot win a faceoff and as great as he's playing, IMO, it would be a better decision to send him back with a great taste of what's to come in the NHL. But knowing about this team's marketing BS, I wouldn't be the least surprised if they tried to fool everyone with their press release stuff building him up to demigod status prior to announcing he stays. He made some nice offensive and defensive plays that only a veteran would make last night. But I noticed how time after time he lost faceoffs and was out muscled on loose puck drops. That stuff comes with upper body development and hard work. Please do the right thing Garth and send him back. Sillinger is on the horizon and Thompson will be back soon enough from the groin injury. Great win by the way. I did not expect that. Kudos to Joey Mac yet again for holding down the fort. |

I cant agree with that Steve. Bailey has shown NHL maturity in a variety of areas, mostly with the puck. His poise and anticipation is already at an NHL level, and he's always thinking before he gets the puck on what can be done with it. Sure he needs work on his faceoffs, everyone on this squad does, and he's held up pretty good along the boards. He's not getting pushed off 100% of the time and is winning some battles. He also doesnt look to have much speed when he skates, but damn he's around the puck alot. What good will it do him to slow his game back down to JRs speed then have to speed it up again next training camp. From the look of Gordon's use of him you'd have to think he's not going anywhere, and in fact his role is ever increasing. It's not like he's getting 4-7 minutes a game (what Nolan would do) and his time in the NHL is being wasted. He's getting the majority of minutes for forwards. I just hope Okposo isnt out too long and will rejoin him as his linemate. |

This is exactly the point.. You send kids down or back to juniors to get playing time. He's getting that (deservedly) here. If he stays up in the NHL, he's only going to learn and get better. |

I hear you. My problem is injury. His physical stature and the requirements for a center who plays that style, I don't know. It would be different if we didn't have a Sillinger, Thompson or even Comrie to fall back on. You know me, I'm never negative nancy on alot of things. I just don't want to see him wear down. This team is no better than an 8th place finisher in my eyes and that was what I projected for them at best in the off season despite the last place prediction from the Canadian media. Either way it's a win win for us. I just don't want to see him get hurt mid year. We have a gem with this kid. It would not slow him down going back to junior only to come to camp next year and here's why. He's already shown he can adjust. His hockey smarts are world class. Timing is everything. The physical side, the growth is what needs to catch up for an 82 game NHL season. Especially since he would be counted on to be a #2 center. that's asking alot.

Im a big believer of that fact that you play better when you play with better players. It happens with me and my teams. I play better with 1 than another. I say keep him in the NHL! |

Steve, I understand your concern with injury, but he's not small, and he's going to be up here for a long time. I cant worry about injury, I wouldnt be able to enjoy his play if I was worried. If he gets injured he gets injured, it could happen in JRs or here, we just have to hope he plays heads up and avoids anything serious. In the mean time he's a player that makes me move to the edge of my seat when he steps on the ice, and you know me a long time, that's a BIG measuring stick when judging a player. |

I'll take that ugly win anytime!!! And with respect to the Bailey debate...all I can say is our record has been pretty good w/ the kid in the lineup...which is probably a coincidence...or is it? Either way, in the last 2 years we have seen a bunch of talented kids jump right into an NHL lineup to start their pro careers...several of which have graced the league leaderboards. Tough call, but if he's comfortable and the coaching staff is comfortable, then go for it !!! |

All this talk about Bailey staying or going is the same thing the Penguins went through with Staal. He, too, had played well during his 9 games and the Pens had to make a decision and we all know how that turned out. Bailey has shown he can play at the NHL level, so why send him to Juniors? It is going to be interesting when Thompson comes back and Comrie. Personally, I think this team can play without Thompson. Yea, he provides some grit, but as we have seen...he can be replaced in the lineup. That goes for Comrie, too. I enjoyed watching the game last night...fast play, lots of skating, and good goaltending. What more could you ask for? |

Oh well the refs did try to screw us with another marginal call in the last 5 minutes as we were trying to tie the score, can't feel sorry for anybody. |
