The Lighthouse project would be good for these economic times. It'll create jobs and help the companies that sell material. That is the kind of content that needs to be focused on by these idiots at newspapers and blogs.

According to a prior Botta entry on this subject, Wang has never used the moving threat to get the politicians to move quicker. I don't think the Islanders will move, never mind the dreams of Newsday's sports writers.

He hasn't used the threat of moving-----------yet.

But it now sounds as if there's a sense of urgency of finally getting this thing done. Its nearing the 11th hour.

Come on... it's been the 11th hour for over 2 years now. I hope it's freaking 11:59 by now. Something has to give. I have done quite a bit of research on this issue over the years and really do not see what legit hang up the town and county have.

I too do not want them to ever become the Las Vega Desertsanders or the Seattle Rainlanders...

No one wants that...............but this simply isn't a priority for the Town of Hempstead for whatever the reason.....otherwise it would have been done already.

Yet is the key term, so discussing whether Wang will or not is pointless unless he does.

It isn't pointless because its in the back of every islander fan's mind until it gets resolved.

Wang has to say something to the effect of "Look, if I don't get my project by 'such and such a date', I'm moving. Plain and simple". It is crazy that the ONLY team that actually resides on Long Island is treated like sh!t.......They should have had a new building 10 years ago.

IF THEY COULDNT GET THIS THING OFF THE GROUND
WHEN THE ECONOMY WAS IN BETTER SHAPE
THIS THING WONT BUDGE TILL :dontknow:
ANY MONIES WANG WAS TO GET FROM THE TOWN COUNTY AND STATE
ARE GONE SO UNLESS CHARLES IS WILLING TO PAY FOR ALL OF IT
THIS GOLDEN GOOSE IS A FROZEN MOMENT
ONCE AGAIN THE ADOPTED KIDS GET SHUT OUT

AND DO YOU REALLY THINK ANYONE IN GOV'T WOULD GET SHAKEN UP
IF WANG SAID HURRY OR I'LL MOVE THE TEAM
THEY'D PROBABLY SEND BOXES TO HELP CHARLES OUT

Anyone who thinks in this economy that the Lighthouse project will actually ever happen is just dreaming. If Charles Wang wants to build his own Collisium and continue to lose money then the team will stay on Long Island. A new Collisium is probably about the 200th thing Nassau county is worried about right now.

Also there is nothing to prove that a new building with higher ticket prices will do anything to increase attendance. A dozen years ago I was attending between 10-15 games a year. What has kept me away is the cost which will only increase in a new building.

I think we should face the facts. Either Wang pays for a new building and continues to lose $$$$ or the team gets moved to where it can survive and maybe even thrive. If they moved the Quebec Nordiques who sold out all of their games, they can certainly move a team that can't even sell out some of the closest seats in the house.

Personally I would rather see them thrive somewhere else than stay here and flounder the way we have over the last 20 years. If they move I will still root for whoever they become. I'm just sick of this once proud franchise being the laughing stock of the NHL.
