Botta's blog...

Movie Day: Point Blank reader Nick sent us this video clip, alleging that Rob Davison speared Kyle Okposo during Islanders-Canucks on Monday after the Islander was called for a slash on Roberto Luongo. You make the call. Our call: when you slash another team’s captain and franchise, you pay the price. And Rob Davison is the kind of honest guy who’d be the first to tell you he doesn’t play enough for a suspension to have much of an impact.

Thanks for posting that Chris, but a spear is a spear and I have to disagree with you as to the 'conditions' of which the spear is done. The NHL must be consistent in it's enforcement of dangerous infractions, regardless of the players importance.

Exactly...

and as to Ledzep's statement....they have a rulebook for a reason. You spear someone and you get suspended. It is a Gross Misconduct/Match penalty. If they aren't going to follow their own rulebook, then welcome to the WWE.

Upon video review, there was no "distinct" spearing motion on the play.

He may do something. Davidson was a Islander. Speaking of Davidson. He may have the longest goal in Islander history. And it was his only goal as an Islander too (Toronto).

Well, I don't think davidson does, but Davison might.

and what a shock. The very next game a Devil takes an Islanders head off. think the league has sent a message that it is ok to go after Islanders players?

This is why the rules need to be enforced Zep. Not just selected pages.

U think this had anything to do with one of our guys hitting Sutter's kid?

ya know. I did consider that after I saw the hit. I don't know that it was, but I wouldn't be surprised.

:letssee: :lightbulb: Nice conspiracy theory. And in other news, it was learned that the Sutter clan actually owns the NHL...

If it was retaliation for Weight's hit on Sutter, than both Mottau and Coach Sutter deserve suspensions because I would think that Mottau's hit came at some inciting from Coach Sutter--this is all speculative.

As to facts, Mottau's hit was dirty and comparisons to Weight's are unsupportable by the video replays. Mottau left his feet and elbowed Nielsen in the head while Nielsen was upright. Weight did not leave his feet and delivered his hit with his shoulder, but Sutter skated with his head down hence why he got took it in the noggin. If the league wants to send a message, then the action should be clear--Mottau deserves a suspension, minimum 5 games since Pock's hit, which was similar (though I don't recall if Pock left his feet), received such a suspension.

EDIT: Mottau suspended 2!

TWO FRICKING GAMES? How many games will Nielsen miss? Fug this league.
