should josh go play for his native land during the x-mas break?

me i say yes, not cos i'm canadian, just for the betterment of the soul.
and so he can learn how to be captain, cos its written.

and when he skates on coliseum ice, WE islanders fans can say sorry for booing you. on your greatest day(draft) .

Noooooooo!!!!!!! He is our best offensive player and has nothing to gain in the tournament. Let the lad continue to develop right here.

I think he should have returned to junior.
-He would have had the chance to become a leader in the captains role.
-He would have had the chance to go deep into the playoffs, while Isles will likely struggle and miss the playoffs
-Most importantly, the chance to play at the World Junior Chamionships would have been a great opportunity.

If he misses the playoffs in the NHL, he will have a chance to play in the 2009 World Championships for Canada if he plays well for us this year. They always begin during the playoffs and take the best players who didn't make the playoffs, so he'll still have a shot at repping Canada, just not with the juniors.

There is no reason for him to play for Canada in the jrs. We want him in our system, not team canadas. We want him playing against the best competition, not lighter competition at the jr level.

Plenty of guys were not "captains" of team canada in the juniors or captains of their junior team and went on to be leaders in the nhl.

Let him stay and play.

The idea of letting one of our most productive players recently, and a key piece to our future, going to spend a few weeks playing for Canada is ridiculous. Personally I couldn't care less if he ever learns to be a captain or not. I only care that he turns into a bona fide #1 or #2 center here on LI.

This to me is a dead issue.

Does he seem intimidated out there? No.

Do his skills pale in comparison to most other players? No.

Is he helping the team? Yes, without question.

Okay, so we have a 19 year old hockey player who is NOT in over his head and is actually helping the team. Why in the hell would you send this guy ANYWHERE? I've got news for you guys, him playing for the Windsor Spitfires or Team Canada doesn't help his future as much as playing for the New York Islanders does. I also don't care about the "experience" or "confidence" that he would gain playing against the Oshawa Generals or against the Russian Junior team. Don't you guys think that the Boston Bruins and the Pittsburgh Penguins are just a little bit better than the Swedish Junior team?

The more time he gets to adjust to the speed of the NHL game the better off he'll be. Sending him to play in the WJC, aside from it being a personal dream for him to win a Gold Medal, does not benefit him in any way, shape, or form. He played 17 minutes tonight, he's getting plenty of ice time and he's already better than a guy like Tambellini who is 6 years older than him. Time to forget Bailey is 19 and start worrying about other things.

His game is too good to play against boys any longer. The big leagues are where he belongs.

I sold it all, retired and moved to Fabulous Las Vegas!

All Star
Isles and County.

I'm glad Bailey is staying.

I want to say that I do miss not being in Nassau county sometimes. I was at Shackleton's in Franklin Square last night for my dad's birthday, and I went out to the bar to watch some of the game, and saw people who were interested in the Isles. I miss seeing people who like them. All I get up here are rednecks and Rag fans... ugh.
