24. New York Islanders (9-10-2, Previous: 25) – What to do about Rick DiPietro? Not much the Islanders can do. They should have learned something from the signing of Alexei Yashin years ago before doing the same thing with the now injury-prone and unmovable goaltender. It’s hard to feel sorry for this team. At least Joey MacDonald has given the few fans who show up a reason to cheer. Sad what this franchise has become.

I really can't complain about where this team is at right now. Considering we are one of the least talented teams in the leage, we have been missing 5 of our top 6 dmen at various points, have gotten nothing out of Tamby, have gotten 2 goals from Comrie, and have gotten 2 games from DP, I am very impressed with where we are.

Big positives so far: Josh Bailey showing why we picked him, Joey Mac establishing himself as an NHL goalie, continued progress from Bergie, what Gordon has gotten out of Hilbert and Hunter, Streit looking more and more like a bargain, Guerin and Weight establishing real trade value for the deadline.

They aren't...but it's not like there is much to argue with in what they said.

Forget what Yahoo said. These people who write these reports pay a minute's attention to the Isles, and probably many teams in the league. Let the pundits blow their hot air.

I still think DPs contract is one of the best around for a top goalie...there is a reason why every team has copied us since...

I agree. I'm just not sure that I agree that DP is a top goalie though.

Injuries aside, wait until DP returns to judge the value of his contract.

Who gives a rats ass what Yahoo says about us?

This team is frustrating, sure. But it is also a work in progress and has performed better than most thought they would. They have injuries, not as an excuse, but simply as reality.

Sorry, but I dismiss all of the pundits who talk about OUR team. We live it, every day. Opinions on this forum matter because you know we all watch or attend every game, read every bit of info and have done so for a long time.

The rest of those so called experts can kiss my Islander loving butt.
