All Star
The thing about Joey is that he is part of the rebuild, whereas not Dubie.

Good job, Joey Mac.

Ovechkin, malkin & Joey Mac!

Not bad company!!!

:punk:

AWESOME!

this is great for Mac D. He has been an outstanding Islander and i hope for many stars in his career.

:punk: JO-EY :punk:

He's a UFA after this year. Only making $500,000. I hope Garth & Co. start talking w/ his agent sooner rather than later. If he's not signed by the end of the season, someone else will make him an offer he can't refuse.

:ph43r:

Joey will be taken care of for two reasons...

1- Don't think Garth Snow isn't loving this. He heard all the cracks about signing Joey Mac to that one way deal and all the biatching and crying some Isles fans did that the almighty Dubie wasn't returning. NOw who was right? No way GArth lets this get to a FA period. Joey Mac will be signed. Remember, Garth's own contract should come off the cap any day now so he can use that cash to resign Joey.

2- Much of the signing will depend upon what happens in the second half of the season. After all, while he's been playing great, it is only NOvember and we still have to see if Joey Mac can hold up for a full season playing at this level or a level near it. Hopefully he will, but that will be a huge factor in determining his value both on the market and to the Isles.

Great job Joey. Keep it up.

agree. he has been playing good, so far.But the Islanders seem to be over using him, like a certain other goalie that is on their team.

this is a great test for joey mac...

oh, I still miss dubie, but I'm loving the big mac. And yes, I do realize he can't replace ricky, but he sure as heck can put some pressure on him.

yep. and competition is a GOOD THING. I love the fact that Ricky will be pushed to be better when he's healthy and I hope Joey keeps it up.

But you hit the nail on the head. I heard that his last start was Joey's 14th straight. This is the kind of #$%^ that wears a goalie down. It is one thing to face a ton of shots every night in November, but when it comes to march it is a diff story.

Let's remember, Rick has played 63 games each of the last two seasons, but last year he had 63 starts and didn't play at all in April and March. The year prior he missed time in the spring. Sorry, but that isn't a good pace for any goalie when you face 33 shots a night.

I don't know that our defense is playing any better or worse for Joey right now than it did the last 2 seasons. I suspect it is spurts of both, but these 3rd period meltdowns, getting outshot 17-2 in a period are going to start adding up when a goalie starts a string of 15-20 straight games.

JMHO but Joey will need to be given breathers here and there. Our goalies don't face 22 shots a night.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

Congrats Joey - I was definitely in that camp of wondering what the hell Garth was thinking in letting Dubie go. So for that I'll have my crow served warm please.

Don't worry, Aries. You are not alone! Make that dish for two please! :goofy2:
