From Botta's Blog....

In his first public comments since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery, Rick DiPietro told Point Blank today via text that he is determined to return as the Islanders No. 1 goaltender in the near future.

“The last six months have been the most physically and emotionally difficult time of my life,” wrote DiPietro, who had hip surgery in March and meniscus surgery over the summer. “I am doing everything that I can to get back in the net as soon as humanly possible.”

Responding to a request from Point Blank for a message to Islanders fans on his state of mind, DiPietro made it clear that he plans on making a 100% healthy return and shared his singular focus.

“This team, the organization and our fans mean everything to me. My only goal is to win, and to bring the Stanley Cup back to Long Island.”

Just make sure you are 100%.

Yup at this point there's no point whatsoever in rushing him.

But he's accumulating quite a resume of injuries. You have to wonder just how long he'll hold up even if he does come back.

I think injuries will always be mentioned when talking about DP for the rest of his career. He'd have to go more than a season without serious injury before we gain confidence in him. Until then everytime there is a pile up, or he get's up slowly or takes a chance coming out our first thoughts will be injury.

Hopefully he does take the necessary time to come back at 100%. Since he stated the team is foremost in his mind, it is best for the team, organization and fans that he get 100% healthy. This team isn't going anywhere this season except the lottery. Makes no sense for him to rush back to the miss the playoffs anyway.

Besides, I do remember an nba team in San Antonio that was without their lone allstar for a season and the Spurs were so bad they got the right to draft Tim Duncan. 4 rings later it turned out to be a good thing David Robinson missed an entire season with injury. David got healthy and when he came back there was talent to help him.

wouldn't mind seeing the same senario play out here. Get healthy soon Ricky, but don't come back "too soon". Get 100% first.
I miss these :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: and want more of them

Am I the only one who is bothered by this comment?

He should be doing everything that is humanly possible to get better and ensure no
more tweaks or further damage is done period. Forget about the soon crap.

When will he finally get it????
When?

And no I am not looking into this too much. That line says it all about him. Enough already.
We get it. You are competitive. You want to win, but until that stubborness is curtailed, we never will.

Get well, just get well, don't worry about the "soon".

From the standpoint of where we're probably going this year, I'd rather he sit until he is completely healed and ready to return.

Knowing how competitive he is he'll probably be back "as soon as possible". It's just the way he is.

Just as long as he doesn't become one of those chronic in 3 games out a dozen types (which he kinda is already).

Just make sure you are 100%.

This is so generic I could have written it myself. I used to work for a senator and I would write things like this all the time for her. Next time how about we actually get some info?
