Every time DP skates on the ice he has to say a Hail Mary.

That must be the problem - rosary beads are non-standard equipment, he has to lose them before the game (?)

Is DP Mad Mike's crowning contribution to the franchise? His last great work?

Hopefully our "out of the box" draft strategy we still employ is better than his.

In Columbus, OH (where I am) the Jackets top goalie LeClair has been a on and off injured guy all his career. In comes Mason now, and if he continues to shine it is not such a big problem. On LI even if Joey Mac shines, we have a broken #1 goalie with a 13 year contract. YIKES! Hopefully DP will recover, and NEXT season be a top 5 goalie, AND we start the year with Taveres or Hedman in the opening lineup. Hopefully DP is not having dreams of comming back now and stealing the show and getting the MVP, because he will surely pop something.

Patience is a virtue!

funny how many of these same comments were made by NY Giants fans from 81-84 about a guy who also played the most visible position for that team.

Oh Phil Sims is fragile.

He always gets hurt.

He sucks.

They wasted a pick on him.

Blah blah blah.

What did the Giants do? They went out and surround him with this thing called TALENT...and he led them to a Superbowl and a 10-1 record in their second superbowl season.

Will the same thing happen here? Who knows. Maybe...maybe not. But I'm amazed at so many halfwitted statements about DiPietro. Where else but on Long Island apparently can fans heap all their frustrations on a single guy without having a clue.

Can anyone tell me the last team to win a Stanley Cup with JUST A GOALIE playing at an all-star level? Can anyone else point to a different team that went deep into the playoffs from 01-08 with only one of their first round picks making a contribution in that time?

No? Didn't think so.

The overraction, venom and wannabe-clarvoyance in some of these posts is astounding...but I forgot. It apparently doesn't just rain on Long Island. It is a monsoon of overreaction.

Let's heap all our frustrations on a guy who's played only 3 games during a season where we are rebuilding anyway. As we saw last season, DP's play in the first half of the season was the only thing that kept us in the playoff race...and ultimately damaged our % of getting the magic ping pong ball. I'm pretty sure a healthy DP would do the same thing this year.

But as I've contended, our problem isn't between the pipes. Joey Mac has been more than solid this season, but as we see with all the 3rd period collapses, it isn't the guy between the pipes who is the problem. It's the guys skating and that has only been the problem for the past...well, since atleast Osgood got here. So let's get pissed at the guy who isn't even on the ice, but when he's healthy has us about 5 spots higher in the standings than our team deserves to be.

But let's continue to go with the "sky is falling" attitude and "its all one guys fault" (even though it clearly isn't). Hell, it is a heck of alot easier than thinking, isn't it? :dontknow:

If you want to have intelligent discussion...fine. Otherwise, inane comments such as this are worthless, pointless and not original. Time for new material. :blah: :blah:

I've said my piece. If you want to refute one of my POINTS, feel free. I'll listen and would enjoy a discussion. But I notice that when I post something on this topic, you never address any of the points. You just rehash the same lame one liners you have for years. So really, what's the point? When you want to have an intelligent discussion, let me know. I'll be here.

exactly. There are three guys on the roster I don't think will pan out....

1. Tambelini
2. Gervais
3. Neilsen

but all three need to be given the chance to prove us right or wrong. And with the way things stand this year, we aren't going anywhere so this is the season to let them show what they can do.

These three have NEVER shown us anything yet whereas DP has. It just seems like many people are in a hurry to bury everything and everyone on and with this team, whether it is merited or not, in a ridiculous rush to judgement.

As for Zep...Making the same joke for years isn't a "sense of humor". It is Milton Berle's act from the 1950's only 50 years too late.

If you want to make a point, I'll chat. Otherwise, not worth it.
