I just want to extend a big thanks to the NY Islanders and their I.C.E. program. It's because of them that my son and his classmates in the Eastport/South Manor school system will now have hockey as part of Phys-Ed. All the equipment (except helmets) that is needed (sticks, pucks, nets) for the school district to bring floor hockey as part of their activities is because the of NY Islanders genorousity. Credit goes to the NY Islanders. Now kids who will experience hockey for the first time, that first time they grab a stick, or shoot and score a goal will be because our team gave them the opportunity they might not normally have. All kids now will experience hockey, even in it's most rudimentary form, and from that hockey will stick with many of them. Many more than say by chance, now that they will be required like basketball, dodgeball, or any of the other sports found in today's schools. And each and every student knows it was the NY Islanders that brought hockey to their school, so those new impressionable lovers of the sport would most likely feel the Islanders are their team. The I.C.E. program is working and create great interest in the sport and even greater interest in being future fans of the NY Islanders. My son couldn't wait to tell me and he's looking forward to gym more than ever. NY Islanders, I thank you.

Wow thats really awesome Webby. It's stuff like that, will make people more interested in the game. I remember when I was in elementary school we took floor hockey super serious, we kept stats and everything (when we learned how to keep stats) Even when I went on to college we (even you too JBlake55) played in some real bru ha ha floor hockey games.. |
